My husband and I came here for our anniversary dinner. The location and view is nice but am very disappointed in the taste of the food but mostly disappointed that the waiter or chef lied to us and served us food that was not described in the seafood platter. The seafood platter for two $99 usd said it comes with lobster and also whole red snapper and your choice of side. We ordered it because we saw the reviews on the red snapper but also wanted to try their other seafood items. When the platter was served, there was no red snapper and no mash potatoes. The waiter told us when they do not have red snapper, they give lobster instead. We did not get an extra lobster, it was a whole lobster split in half. I wonder why he did not mention there was no red snapper when we ordered the platter. This was the most pricey menu item and their red snapper was what they are known for? Why did he not tell us? I was being nice and said ok… that’s fine…. but then realized their is only one lobster, there was not an extra one. The calamari, tuna, and mahi mahi had no flavor and I as overcooked and very dry. I’ve never had dry calamari! How could you go wrong with just grilling calamari? I was very disappointed in the taste and quality of the food and really was looking forward to the red snapper. My husband then told the waiter that I really wanted the red snapper and that we didn’t want it to eat this anymore. They didn’t want to refund us $100 obviously and then he said we have red snapper… he said he would bring that out to us but it would take a little longer to cook (I was fine with that but still so confused why he said there wasn’t any red snapper?!). They also forgot our mash potatoes and gave us grilled vegetables. Unbelievable and worst restaurant I’ve ever been to in Manuel Antonio. Also, the red snapper was not good, no flavor. Just...
Read moreWe went for their sunset dinner mainly for the possible animals rather than the food, but we ended up enjoying the food, which was a pleasent surprise. The restaurant is located in a hotel, but has the prettiest view of the sunset, i recommend to get there an hour or more before the sunset, as our server told us we were able to order our drinks and go explore for a little bit, come back and order our food just to go and explore. We explored a lot, went up and down, there's a trail (that we did not do), the pool deck also has a beautiful view for the sunset.
The dinner was great, good food, good everything. A mix of meat dishes, pasta dishes, and fish dishes, and none of us had any complaints. Coffee was cool, but not American strong coffee (but also we haven't found any better coffee's around here so this was the best one so far).
The servers were great, friendly, new how to take good photos, most of the servers spoke good english, we were all able to communicate greatly, only thing, just a little bit slow, but it turned out great anyway.
The server did tell us that the macaws fly around in the morning or afternoon, and toucans only in the morning, we saw these cute little rodent things running around, the macaws flying and hanging out - although i will warn, macaws do not make a pretty sound - but for what time we went, it turned out...
Read moreGreat restaurant for a special occasion. The restaurant was empty when we got there on a Monday night so we were a little weary, however the food and service were some of the best I’ve had in Costa Rica so don’t let that deter you from eating here. The restaurant is part of the Los Altos resort and is priced a bit higher than other places. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The seafood soup had a delicious coconut milk base without being too heavy and had a good variety of seafood - mussels, clams, fish and shrimp. The tuna tartar was more like a sashimi but I loved it, it’s layered like a cake instead of being cut up in small pieces and mixed. The mussels were also very good, although wish they had been accompanied by more bread because the sauce was so good! The drinks were a bit sweet for my taste, we tried the Tom Collins and the Mai Tai (to be expected super sweet anyway). The tres leches dessert was deliciously moist. The staff was very attentive and very professional. I would...
