We've really enjoyed our experience at Teva as a whole but the restaurant was pretty disappointing. The first night we ate dinner there and the appetizer and my partner's burger were pretty good but unfortunately my fish tagine was VERY bland and the fish was dry. I don't think it even had salt and pepper and was supposed to have olives in it, which would have brought some saltiness to the dish, but didn't. The restaurant was also frequently out of things (which could be a supply chain issue so we don't hold it against them) and the prices are a little crazy for some things. Most hotels and hostels we've stayed at during our 5 weeks in Costa Rica included at least 1 free cup of coffee. Here there is a charge for simple drip coffee. They don't like you to take dishes back to your room but I am working remotely so I took my own 16oz travel mug out and they said they'd have to charge me for 3 coffees plus an additional charge for a little milk/cream in it which in total was about $9 US. More than a Starbucks speciality drink. The menu is also misleading and has sections that say they include fries but they don't and a side of fries is nearly $6 US. The overall atmosphere is nice and there's usually many people out socializing in the restaurant area and sometimes playing cards or boardgames and the happy hour specials are...
Read moreDuring our incredible week at Teva, our group of 10 dined at Azuleo for the majority of our stay in Quepos. Breakfast & Dinners. First off, I loved the relaxed outdoor open air setting of the dining area. It's the perfect spot to grab a cocktail at the end of an adventurous day, and a great communal area to meet new friends and fellow travelers from around the world. And can I just say - the cocktails (made by the incredibly friendly staff) are so fresh and delicious! Since I am not the "foodie" of our group, I pretty much sat back and enjoyed whatever was ordered and everything was AH-MAZING! It was obvious that time and effort was put into every single dish that came out of their kitchen. The flavors... the presentation... the variety...everything was perfect. It was hard to pick a favorite dish each time. Eating out with a group is always a bit hectic, but Azuleo's shared style of dining was perfect for us. It felt like we were having family meals together, passing plates and laughing until our stomachs were full and happy. To anyone staying in the area - you must...
Read moreThe hotel is brilliant. It's where we stayed and we liked it so much we stayed an extra night.
But I didn't like the restaurant. I ordered the lamb kebab. The meat: little pieces of extremely dry, burnt with literally no resemblance of nice flavor. Served with a sauce dish size "serving" of tomato and onion" about 2 tablespoons worth...the dish in which my tomato sauce for the fries was served felt like it was more. So, putting the destroyed meat with so little tomato in a dry kebab ~ it left very much to be desired. My friends ordered the hamburger which looked good- but I don't come to restaurants that claim authentic cuisine just to have a hamburger that I could have anywhere else.
Service is very friendly. I liked our waiter.
I think it's a nice place to have drinks. The vibe is great. Maybe order a hamburger or the chicken wings. I wouldn't go for the more exotic dishes. You simply don't know what you're gonna get and at the price your expectations may...
