El Callejón Mexicano — Restaurant in San Rafael

I came to Costa Rica for dental work in August 2024. I stayed walking distance to this place and walked past, not giving it a try. I highly regret not doing so. The owner is from Mexico and is fluent in many languages. He wanted authentic cuisine but couldn't find it, so he decided to open his own restaurant, which has been a success for 25 years. I had the birria tacos and guacamole. The birria tacos in the states don't hold a candle to this place. I've had my share of dry, disappointing tacos that this place blew my mind. Our first night in Costa Rica and we wanted tacos. El Callejon Mexicano was a short Uber ride from our AirBNB and the photos looked great. Roberto happily translated the menu for us in French, Italian, Spanish and English. The food was delicious, not too spicy but the spices you can choose if you want it hot. Ufff mi esposo y yo nos sentimos en México comiendo esta comida!! Déjeme le cuento, salimos del dentista cita de mi bebé, mi esposo de ide entrar a comprar algo de tomar porque nos quedaban 10month para el Uber. La señora nos dice “ No se quieren llevar un orden de taquitos para que vean que ticos son?” Y yo si en 10 mins salen?? Y ella sisi. Al final nos terminamos pidiendo 1 orden tacos al pastor un queso relleno de carne y bistec con guacamole y 2 limonadas deliciosas! toda la orden salió en 10mins, al llegar a la casa devoramos esa comida en 3mins, yo me sentí en México😂 riquisimas las tortillas son otra cosa la carne deliciosa. Tenemos que ir 5 veces más a que le pongan Fluor a mi bebé y vamos a pedir comida de aca CADA VEZ!! Mucho más gracias💕🙏 que el Señor siga bendiciéndolos y...
