This place actually tastes like an American BBQ restaurant. Plus fast friendly service and fair prices. Make sure to try a homemade dessert. It reminds me of a family friendly casual, we are hungry and need a good filling meal quick, kind of place.
My husband loves BBQ. He tried the Buzzed Money with a coworker and has been raving about it. We decided to go one evening after swimming and it was pouring rain. I was please with to in door temperature. Not freezing like most indoor restaurants. It also was very clean. It was pretty full with customers. We were greeted with friendly waiter, seated given menus and drinks ordered right way. They brought drinks right way and took our order. And yes they have beer, wine, mixed drinks. They even have Blue Moon my Michigan drink. Haven't seen it in Costa Rica anywhere.
The owner remembered my husband from last visit and sent us an appetizer on the house. That was nice. It was cheese wrapped in sausage wrapped in bacon baked in a pan with BBQ sauce. It was really good.
Our food came right as we finished. I had the pulled pork sandwich and fries. The sandwich was big with lots of meat. On the sandwich were pickles that were battered and fried. They gave a nice flavor to the bite. The fries were amazing. You'll have to try them and make sure to drip them in the BBQ sauce. My husband had the brisket with fries and potato salad. I tried the brisket, nice flavor and moist. Really good and I'm not a brisket fan. The potato salad was homemade and really good. My son had the Mac and cheese. It was good portion of homemade baked mac and cheese. He ate it up.
The boys had the Red Velvet cake for dessert. Of course I had to try it. Very good.
All and all we enjoyed and...
Read more7-11-2024 Chifrijo appetizer was good, no pictures because we was all hungry. 😆
Wife had the street taco's. Really good she said. (She's short on reviews.)
Little boy had the kids cheese burger with fries. Also said really good. Our oldest boy finished his brother's burger and agreed it was good. Normally the kids menu at restaurants is dry and well....sucks... if you ever dare to try it. Good job on taking care of the kids too!😀
Big kid has the pulled pork, with sweet potato fries. He liked the sweet BBQ that came on the side. Being from northern USA we mostly only have original BBQ sauces. Have to head south for sweet or spicy. He absolutely loved the sweet potato fries.
I had the Mac Attack with sweet potato fries. + Potato salad + bbq (chili?) beans. I took pic of everyone's plate except for mine! Nooooo. I came in expecting a big Mac replica. Not what I got. What I received was a Big Mac and a Big Boy had a baby and over fed that kid and made a Monster. Loved it! Fat juicy patties, perfect amount of lettuce, onions and special sauce. Again the sweet potato fries were great. Potato salad was really good and I'm picky about potato salad. Bbq beans were cooked perfectly not all mushy like a lot of places.
Sent a round of beers to the pit masters for the awesome food.
Had two lady server's tonight that were exceptional, greeted with a smile, food was fast, drinks were always full, bill was correct.
Restroom was clean.
Parked on the gravel side road by the bushes next to the restaurant facing the stop sign. No problems.
Thank you All for such...
Read moreAmazing, delicious BBQ in the heart of a busy beach town, Buzzed Monkey does not disappoint. It is in an open-air covered patio with plenty of circulating fans to keep the temperatures really nice, even when it's super hot outside. Seating area is large with multiple TVs and a good sized bar (and elevated lounge seating) area too. You could image this place in Texas and it would fit right in.
All of that's nice, but what you're really coming here is the BBQ. And it does not disappoint! My wife got a rib (it's nearly arm-sized!) and I got some brisket. Both were tender, tasty, and fall-off-the-bone delicious! We both really enjoy our BBQ and this was some of the best we've ever eaten.
The tiny hiccup was the service. We waited a long time to get recognized by a server and given menus, and throughout the night we were never really sure what server was responsible for our table. When I asked for another beer, the server took the one I hadn't quite finished drinking yet without asking if I was done with it. And at the end of the meal, getting someone to give us a check resulted in catching the owner's attention (who's a real nice New Hampshire guy!) in order to cash out. These service issues are not uncommon in this area of the country.
But the food was delicious, came out fairly quickly, and we both agreed we would definitely...
