I have been coming to this restaurant for years, not only in the high season but throughout the year. Out of all the restaurants in Makarska, this was always my first choice. But after my last experience, never again.
We came for lunch with my small child. I politely asked if there was a free table, but the waiter didn’t even bother to look at me, just said “no, no.” Shortly after, a table for two freed up. Since we are three, I asked if it was possible to add one extra chair. The second waiter, again without even looking at me, very rudely said “no.”
I then asked if there was another table available. Without any effort, again the answer was “no.” When I told him that he could at least say it nicely, instead of correcting himself he raised his voice in front of my child, got aggressive, came into my face, and said “what do you want from me? write a review, tell my name.” My child was frightened.
This was not just unprofessional, it was hostile and unacceptable. For a restaurant that is expensive, the least one expects is respect and decent service. Instead, we were treated with rudeness and aggression.
Never again, and I strongly advise other guests to choose one of the many other excellent restaurants in Makarska, where service and hospitality still mean something. Shame on Gastro Diva for allowing this kind...
Read moreThis is no Gastro Diva this is "The Dalmatian Pearl" waiting to be discovered by all. What attention to detail and finesse in the food prepared by Madam Diva herself , and her wonderful team here in Makarska . I had the pleasure of dining there last Sunday evening sitting outside with friends under the Croation moonlight and eating some of the best food yet on my recent visit to this wonderful part of Croatia. Madam Diva cooks with a knowledge that can't be taught in culinary schools but can only be inherited from great food traditions that are handed down through the family generation after generation . One can taste the passion with every morsel eaten that goes into the food prepared here. I had the pleasure of meeting the chef herself after dinner and was so impressed by her willingness to share her passion for what she creates here. The service was attentive and professional and thankfully didn't have any of the social arrogance one tends to find in restaurants which promote themselves as " fine dining" whatever that means. I can't wait to revisit this Perl again on my next trip to Croatia. I suggest you reserve a table here before the word gets out and you may be disappointed. Thank you to my friend Maya for this...
Read moreMy review is for single diners:
If you're a single diner, don't bother with this restaurant. Went very early for dinner when it was not busy and heard the waiter tell the couple ahead of me they had two tables (that each seated two) available, the rest were reserved. They were seated. I then asked him if they had a spot and he said no they don't seat single diners (again the table was small for only two). I asked if I could make a reservation and he said no they don't accept reservations for one. They also they don't do takeaway. So basically they just don't accept single diners period. This is the first time for me in 6 months in Croatia that I encounter this at a restaurant.
If you want to segment customers by how much you think you're going to make off of them, fine. But I'm a heavier spender (multiple courses drinks etc) and eat quickly, so that doesn't really hold with the 'no single diner rule'.
The waiter (beardless one) was very rude about it too.
There are plenty of options in Makarska. If you're a single diner, this restaurant wont accept you, so you can cross it off your list and go somewhere else. I'd urge management...
