Matic Apartments — Hotel in Grad Split

Zero stars. I made a reservation for this apartment about a month ago in Split for our honeymoon. Three weeks later... the owner emails me and asks me to cancel the reservation because they have '"changes in their offer and prices for the period" I have booked and that if the new offer is okay with me that I can then re book. I replied saying that we need a place to stay because everything else that is affordable for us is now booked up as it is a busy weekend in Split due to the Ultra Music Festival. I told the owner it was unprofessional to ask me to cancel and then re book at a higher price and that they should honour the booking how it was first booked. The owner replied saying that we could not stay there at the price I had originally booked so I ended up cancelling as they told me to, because I didn't even feel comfortable staying there anymore and didn't want there to be a problem of having no place to stay when we arrive. The owner realized it was a busy weekend because of the festival ... three weeks after I had already booked. Rather than honouring the booking at the original price I booked.. they tried to make it more expensive because they didn't update it on the website calendar before. Ended up having to book a place way out of budget because nothing else was available so close to the date. Book somewhere...

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! Arrived and felt odd that there was merely a sign at the door that said to call a number to check in - which did not connect. The second option advised on the sign was to go to the top floor to check in - which was there own private residency to which I recollected my key in their living room. The rooms were VERY old and outdated and surrounding streets very secluded. As a young female traveller, I did not feel safe roaming the winding and confusing streets. I decided not to stay despite having to pay the whole price for accommodation for cancelling last minute. The woman was EXTREMELY hostile after expressing my concerns and got very annoyed at me for not bringing cash to pay and claimed I did not read the terms and conditions. I explained to her that the reservation details did not ask for cash only. I went and got cash out and paid her to be confronted by a man asking me what my problem was with the accommodation. She did not want to provide me a receipt and did not thank me or say goodbye so I had to show myself to the door....
