i have been vacationing in cuba for over 25 yrs. this year on my many visits to Trinidad, on a day tour on our own an amigo and frequent travel partner stumbled on the casa de los conspiradores!! we were greeted by a waiter who asked us if we were there for lunch or just a drink. we answered lunch and were shown to a table for two in the shade since it was very hot in the direct sun. we both had a beer to cool off and then ordered lunch. I ordered the chicken and oxy my partner ordered the pasta with lobster parts. it was served to us in very short time. I am a smoker in cuba only, and was given an ash tray and since we were in the open air part of the casa, I was okay with smoking, before the lunch. I am not a huge chicken fan, and was totally impressed with my selection from the menu. before our main course, we were given an appetizer, which was like melba toast with some salsa on it. it was extremely good and we asked the waiter for more!! my chicken was to die for and oxy's pasta was enough to feed 2 or 3 people. she wanted to ask for a doggie bag, but we let the waiter take away her 3/4 full plate since she could not consume any more. after the lunch the waiter gave us the tour of the whole case and even took us upstairs and showed us the or what was the original living quarters of the original owners of the casa a century ago. all in all we were both very impressed with the whole lunch and the bill was a joke!!!!!!!!!!! they are giving away their food and it made us both tip like crazy. I recommend this restaurant for a good wholesome meal anytime. and the gallery is fun to wonder through and maybe pick up some keepsakes for your home. I would give the casa and it's staff and food a 12 out of 10. it is a must see-the gallery and a must do-the restaurant and that is all....
Read moreOur foursome browsed the very interesting gallery of Yami Martinez, finding the styles of Yami's work extremely cool and profound. On the street we were greeted by a friendly and professional host and led to the table of our choice upstairs in this unique, tastefully restored Casa de Los Conspiradores. We were pleased by the cleanliness and tasteful arrangement of furniture, then the professionality and congeniality of our wait staff, who spoke fluently in many languages. The menu offers a broad spectrum of dining delights so we each chose different dishes and drinks. All of our meals arrived together in a timely manner and we enjoyed the complete attention of our waiter until he was sure of our satisfaction. We sent compliments to the chef for the creation and presentation of our meals of fresh fish, lobster, lamb and chicken, all very pleasing to our palates. Our desserts and strong Cuban coffee were sinfully delightful and we came away overwhelmed by our good fortune of finding such a classy establishment surrounded by the beats of Cuba's music and dance culture venues. The drinks are the best ever…bar none!! Every member of the staff was open to friendly conversation and loved to share a bit of humour. Thanks for a wonderful Cuban dining experience. Hasta pronto, Chris and...
Read moreDinner for 2. Atmosphere was nice. We sat on a small balcony with music from the band playing on "the steps" just below. We had asked our guide to tell the waiter in Spanish in the afternoon not to overcook the lobster for us. When we got there in the evening, I don't think the waiter remembered us. He nodded to everything we said. We asked if he remembered us from the afternoon, to which he nodded and I reminded him that I didn't want my lobster overcooked, whence we got another nod but we only realised at the end that he didn't understand English at all. The lobster was overcooked. It was only when I complained that he told us he didn't understand English. The other main dish was a beer drunken chicken which was bland. The food bill was 27 CUC which was cheap. It is the only place that we had been to where a 10% service charge was included. We asked the manager to deduct the 10% service charge off the bill to which he did after we'd explained to him our reason for it. The best thing about it was...
