Mangas Restaurant — Restaurant in Ayia Napa

Please save your money and eat somewhere else! This place has no respect to you and see you as a money bag tourist! We were unfortunate to stop by this place in the evening of our first night in Cyprus. We came for fish meze and owner were inviting us while we stop by their menu and assure us it will be good.

We placed order for fish meze for 2 people and pitcher of sangria. They brought us bottle of already mixed sangria those that usually sold at supermarket. We told waiter that’s not what we want because it’s bottled ( later saw in supermarket next door for 5€ they sell for 15.90€ at restaurant). Waitress tried to assure us this is sangria but when I told her I don’t like to drink this chemicals and I want fresh house made sangria she said she knows how to make it. In 10 minutes we got sangria in pitcher. First they served us Greek salad which was good and meze sauces with pita. That was best part of all. Next was just a freak show. Fish meze came in small plates x2 of everything -mussels, fried fish, calamari ring, octopus.. food were cold, frozen and it didn’t tasted fresh, they deep fried everything to cover up that food is not fresh.

We told owner that food is cold and very not eatable and chewy, especially calamari and octopus. Feels it was frozen and not cooked properly. He become very aggressive and shouted at us that he is not going to listen to us and he told us to pay and never come back. He start threatening us to call the police in case we will not pay and we were 2 ladies felt very unsafe. I told him that he crossed boundaries coming close to my face, shouting and putting his fingers at my face. It happened in front of employees and customers and he wasn’t even ashamed of his behavior. Never in my life I got such an agressive attitude from business owner or service. As a man he should be very embarrassed of himself and actually his employee apologized to us when he was picking our plates. Our check was Intentionally delayed for 20 minutes. I had to flag down bartender to pay for this mess and leave. In the end we have a bad experience at our first night in Cyprus and ruined evening. We left hungry because this food is not eatable and if you do care what you eat I recommend to avoid this place at any cost!

PS I understand this is very heavy tourist traffic place, end of season and after Covid it’s not easy to run the business but you don’t treat people with so cold, heartless and disrespect. I also work hard to earn my money and I will not let to treat...

As many restaurants in Agia Napa close for the winter, we had limited choice on our day trip to the town from Limassol, so chose this one by virtue of the fact that it was a) open, and b) had a playground to entertain our 2.5 year old daughter. Having seen the state of Agia Napa Town centre, I had pretty low expectations, to be honest, but the food, at least, surprised me and was actually quite good. We had chicken kebabs, plus a mini pork kebab for our daughter, and everything was really well cooked and delicious. The two missing stars however are for the dirty and poorly maintained play equipment (some actually quite dangerous!) and the cold, unfriendly service. Although it was January, we wanted to sit outside so we could keep a close eye on our daughter on the playground. For us Brits, it wasn't cold at all - warm enough to sit outside with a cardigan on - but from the rolled eyes and huffs and puffs it was made quite clear that our request was most inconvenient (even though at that point we were the only customers in the restaurant). The waiting staff, a man and a woman, were stony faced and never smiled once the whole time we were there. I went inside to pay the bill (since it was clear that once our food had been delivered, no-one was going to come back outside to check on us) and although the woman who had helped serve our table was sitting there literally doing nothing, she motioned to me that I should wait for the other gentleman, who had just started to take the orders of a group of about 10 or 12 people. It was quite embarrassing actually to stand there for quite some time while the woman sat doing nothing but stare out of the window....

My experience in this restaurant was way more than disappointing regarding everything, if you ever get the chance to eat in this restaurant please think twice before doing it. It was three of us and all of us ordered dish with pork, after food arrived on very first taste of meat we could figure that meet was not just fresh, it was broken with terrible smell. After some time waiter noticed that we barely touched the plate and asked if everything is fine. On a very kind way we explained that meet smells like broken, where he went to speak with owner who approached to us with very aggressive attitude and not any emotional control of behaving, shouting on us trying to make us like we are liars and we don’t know how it tastes pork, saying he is using fresh meat every day, that he feeds abnormal number of people and no one ever complained on the food he serves. When I tried one more time to smell that pork he shouted on me what are you smelling, on a very rude way he took away the plate from my hand and kicked us out of the restaurant with words “Go away, shame of you. You are going to tell me my food is not right, don’t come to my restaurant anymore!”.

This is first time in my life seeing someone treating guests that way just because he doesn’t know how to handle with different opinions and you run your own business. I just can’t imagine the way he treats the employees if he treats the guests like this, which...
