Had a family meal (4 of us) at Rasoi this evening 27th Aug 2025 from around 7:45pm onwards. Walked in, got a table quick, as the restaurant was around 30% full. After about 30 mins, it was 80% full. For starters we had poppadoms (they came in about 30 seconds - I am not joking!), paneer pakora and prawn puri. I must say the prawn puri was spot on, large puri with a lovely fresh prawn curry mix - would deffo recommend. My family said the paneer pakora's were nice too. Chutney comes in a boat style white 3-compartment platter which are tiny to be frank, we asked for extra green chutney but they added 1Euro to our bill, not the end of the world, but they could have made it clear from the outset, displeased. Mains were ok, not that great, bhindi (ladies fingers) were from the freezer - tasted flat (sorry to be blunt), daal was nice but lacked pizzaz and palak panner was the same, just lacked something, hard to lay our finger on. Fish curry was ok, but the sauce felt like it was watered down. Pilau rice was also ok, standard stuff really. Tandoori roti we expected wholemeal flour variants but they looked like small naan breads. I would have given the place more star ratings, but service was extremely slow, there were staff present, but when watching them, they acted like busy bees, it was a busy evening but not horrendous, I think they need more people in the kitchen as that was the bottleneck in my opinion. Staff at some points were attentive but this was let down later when they were allegedly rushed off their feet, I think they dropped the ball at times, I don't think a lot of the customers were happy of the extended wait times. Masala tea was good, I got a take away cup in the end as I just wanted to get out of there. I don't think I will go back I am afraid, just a one-time wonder for us. I am hoping someone at Rasoi reads this and makes a change for the...
Read moreDo not let the outside put you off, the food is great and staff nice (unless it's busy, then understandably it will take little while to get good, so I say go earlier than 9PM/21 for a better and more peaceful experience. We went there 3 times during our two week stay. 1st time we got vegetable vindaloo and paneer madras with plain naan. very good! More vegetables than you can eat (which I mean as a good thing) and paneer was in big pieces and plentiful. Vindaloo had a good amount of spice if you can tolerate spicy food, if not, pick something else.. like the stuff we got on our 2nd visit! Chole Bature and Dal Banjara. Both were mild in spiciness but very flavorful. Lentils extremely filling! The jalapeno (?) that comes in a black cup with the chole Bature was our favourite! Tastes good with whatever you eat it with. We also got a vegetable Raita, but it wasn't needed since the chole Bature came with a Raita of its own (we didn't know). Onions in all the dishes at this place are very good, but maybe they just have good onions at Cyprus! 3rd time we got the chole Bature again since it was so good (and the bread it comes with is also yummy and I recommend using it with your selected curry too). Then we got the BEST Indian curry we have ever had; the Vegetable Jelferzi. Remember to ask it spicy, the flavour gets elevated. Even though the chole Bature had become a favourite from last time, we couldn't stop eating the Jelferzi. PLEASE get it if you come here! Be curious and taste indian vegetarian dishes and suprise the rich taste and fullness you feel after dinner . Pictures are of chole Bature...
Read moreWe have been to this restaurant twice.
visit - the waitress was very unpleasant, we felt as if she worked here out of favour. When asking what she recommended - she replied that everything was good. Being the first time in such a restaurant, we expected help. The food was very good for the first time, and the only downside was the service.
visit - here again the situation from the previous visit, namely the waitress was not nice. Okay... if the food is to be as good as the first time, we will turn a blind eye. Unfortunately, there was a long black hair in our tikka masala, after pointing it out - the waitress said that it was impossible and it must be my hair... not only did I have my hair tied up, but I also have blonde hair. For me, it was a bit too much...
Later we got the receipt, gave the money and attention we waited 15 minutes for the change, which in the end we did not receive and we had to go to the bar ourselves... and I would like to point out that there were not many people in the restaurant.
As for me, the food was ok despite the hair incident, but unfortunately the service was terrible!!! Due to this incident we will not go to this restaurant again. I think there are much better places in the area for a tasty, quiet and...
