Zoumos Restaurant — Restaurant in Kakopetria

DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT!!! This restaurant is a total disappointment! Those of you who know what good food is, please turn around and go somewhere else. We were greeted by a forced "friendly" owner. At that time, there were at least a few people, so we said let's go eat something. Our experience: the Greek salad we got was mostly lettuce, which was already brown around the edges and not fresh. The chicken I received on the plate was pink - half raw. I refused the plate and the owner said that I could have said earlier that I would like to have well done fried chicken....hahaha!!! My daughter ordered a chicken burger. The meat that was in the burger was some kind of mixture that we cannot call chicken. My husband's vegetables next to the meat were dry, unappetizing in appearance and the meat had a strange smell. We refused all the food. The owner then argued with us that everything was fresh, but we told him that we had never eaten such bad food anywhere in Cyprus.If you are someone who does not know what good food means, then you will not have a problem here. But I feel sorry for everyone who does not know what good food means, because here in this restaurant it is...

We visited the restaurant on Sunday. Supposedly, when everyone heads up to the Troodos to enjoy the fresh food. We were starving, so we didn't check the reviews. It was a VERY BIG MISTAKE. The staff was nice, explaining everything. We ordered some salad which was Ok and Kleftiko that was obviously old and microwaved. The vegetarian dish was also a disaster. It had overcooked vegies, undercooked potatoes and horrible mushroom. But the worst of all of them was the chicken souvla. It smelled bad and was visibly old, and very dry. We didn't send it back but my friend only took a single bite. When we asked for the check, we told the nice waiter that we didn't like the chicken and that it was untouched. At some point, one of the customers overheard us, left his table and went to the manager and explained the situation with our food. At this point we just expected a simple apology but no, the manager ignored the customer and the waiter remarks. We just paid and left. The manager didn't even reply to our goodbyes. As I am writing this review, the two people who ate the food are feeling very sick. The only one who is ok is the smart girl that did not touch...

By far the most disappointing food I had in Cyprus.

Went to this place without checking the reviews, and now post-meal I cannot say I am surprised with the negative feedback. The portions were small (for example 1 potato split in half for 2 mezedes) but maybe this was a good thing as the food is the definition of bland. Nothing was fresh (definitely microwaved on max given how dry everything was), but even if fresh I would imagine it would be mediocre at best, as there was little taste to salvage. I don’t think they use salt during the whole cooking process (ie the days before we ate). When they did use herbs and spices, there was no balance at all and the dish was still somehow bland. The koupepia were the saddest bite of food I had in a while.

The waiter serving us was friendly, and the balcony is a neat place to sit and listen to the flowing water, however this is not unique to the area. I wasn’t expecting much given it’s a fairly touristy area, and was still...
