Wow 🤩 where do I start? If you can, book the Executive Suite! It is luxury personified with everything you need and expect from a top class hotel yet in a cosy boutique environment, a stunning fusion of traditional and contemporary furnishings to ensure you feel totally relaxed from start to finish of your stay. However, every room offers the same attention to detail to delight and enable you to have a relaxing break. I could write a list of features but just to say investigate every corner of your room and the hotel for historic books, magazines and fabulous wall hangings and furnishings that make this place so individual and interesting. Engaging the family in the design of the rooms is unbelievable, the sinks, baths, storage and counter tops etc all made on site and built with unusual concrete and stone materials to give a funky and minimalistic ambience to the rooms. We felt so relaxed as soon as we entered the suite with its wrap around balcony, huge amazingly comfortable bed with massive pillows and cushions to swallow you up that we had to drag ourselves out of the hotel to visit the beautiful surroundings! Back to our room, the mini bar and fridge was more like an up town cocktail bar with bottles of top quality liqueurs and plenty of individual cocktails for any discerning mixologist! A complimentary bottle of Thymises Red Wine awaited with bowl of fruit and water on our arrival along with the top Nespresso Machine, Kettle and funky Expresso cups with accompaniments to enjoy the facilities. Bin, what bin? Here it is an earthen pot! I told you! Everything has been meticulously ethically designed! Did someone say Power Shower?! I was elevated to a wonderful waterfall explosion to complement the up market shower gel and soaps! The bath in the Executive Suite was a revelation, I would still be in it now given the option! Dual sinks, robes, slippers and plentiful towels were well received! The room was furnished with sofa, chairs, cushions and a large TV with loads of channels to chill and enjoy some downtime too. Now, don’t worry I’m into food next!Breakfast was a feast starting with a platter of fresh fruit, hams, cheeses, olives and eggs accompanied by lots of different croissants and breads. Coffee from a state of the art machine and choice of teas too. But… as if there’s not enough to fill you up you can then choose from a number of cooked options. My husband went for a mixed omelette which was amazing and I’m disappointed as I have always been the omelette queen in our house but I’ve been knocked off my pedestal! I cannot finish off the review without talking about our evening meal which was definitely a totally amazing experience. We shared two starters, a Cretan Dakos Salad and Orzotto with roasted leg of pork and they were simply the best starters we have had for a long time. How do you follow that? Well believe it or not we both said our main courses were top notch and the chef was obviously very skilled to deliver a Rib Eye steak cooked to perfection and Pork Belly so tender I will be dreaming of it tonight! I expect you are thinking really??? Can everything be that good? Well I’m telling you it was! Absolutely amazing and we will...
Read moreWe stayed two nights in the Thymises Boutique hotel which has been open less than one year. As there are so few reviews to date on TA I’ll offer a more detailed critique. ||The hotel interior is truly striking, a diamond. Beautiful, modern, minimalist design, walls, ceilings interior decor shades of white, beige and cream. Quality furnishings emphasising the overall significant financial investment which must have been made and is fairly reflected in the far from cheap but not unreasonable room rate. ||There were many other positives. We had a large ‘executive’ bedroom with a long balcony. The accommodation was comfortable, clean, quiet, light and airy, with good aircon. The ‘open plan’ bath and wash basin area, was similarly stylish. The toilet and shower room were behind a dividing door. Free bottled water, wine and apples were provided on the first night. ||Unfortunately the diamond is flawed because some of the style sacrificed functionality. There was a seriously dangerous trip hazard with an unmarked step between the bath area to the bedroom. It’s an accident waiting to happen especially in the dark in an unfamiliar room. We’re not fans of ‘open plan’ wash basin/bath areas however appealing the design, it’s not hygienic (no facility to wash one’s hands immediately after using the toilet) or practical and offers no privacy. On a simple level there is nowhere to dry towels necessitating an environmentally unfriendly daily change. ||The breakfast cold buffet plus hot dishes and a la carte dinner were good with an imaginative, less predictable choice than most Cypriot cuisine. However, service at dinner was clueless - both my wife’s dishes were served together, the server then had to be prompted after a long wait to bring my starter and main course brought together. We virtually ate at separate times. When we had both finished, in an empty restaurant, we waited 15 minutes and then had to ask the server to clear our plates. She then gave us the bill before we asked for a dessert. Basic training needed!||In complete contrast, the receptionist and owner personally were exceptionally helpful recommending local sights, particularly in arranging the opening of the (absolutely must see) local UNESCO painted church. The WiFi is strong, TV has Netflix etc and parking was free. ||The hotel is centrally located in the pretty village a 5 minute walk from the well worth visiting narrow cobbled streets of the old village, pleasant riverside stroll, restaurants (we recommend Ayi Yorkis), cafes and shops. The downside is that the urban location inevitably means views from our room balcony and the breakfast terrace were of neighbouring buildings with hills in the background rather than...
