Shiftouris — Restaurant in Larnaca

I was here on a Saturday around 1pm. Already from the outside i was stunned as in the outside wall of the house gave home to rwo huge wooden ovens where a lady cooked pieces of lamb ind several stapled pots. It was served with potatoes that really tasted wonderful. They were soft and had exactly the right amount of salt. I ordered a side salad with it what might have been the reason why i did not manage to eat all of their delicious food, that came together with 4 slices of fresh white bread anonion and a lemon. As i lifted a piece if lamb the meat directly fell of the bone. There were almost no spices with the tender lamb but the meat together with the fat tasted so pure and lovely that everything else would have disturbed the taste. A family owned business where 3 generations are working. By the way i was asked by their son if i would like to have it with fat or without what is very nice as some people like fat and some people dont. At this place you're getting really good foid that is cooked with love. I have been eating close to the beach as well but the restaurants at the promenade mostly sell deep frozen convenience food that is blend and not wort going there. As a little walk is good after eating i would recommend the non tourist areas to get an amazing impression of Cyprus's traditionel cooking. I definitely recommend this place!

μεσημέρι. Ήδη από έξω εντυπωσιάστηκα, καθώς στον εξωτερικό τοίχο του σπιτιού υπήρχαν δύο τεράστιοι ξύλινοι φούρνοι, όπου μια κυρία μαγείρευε κομμάτια αρνιού σε διάφορες στοιβαγμένες κατσαρόλες. Σερβιριζόταν με πατάτες που πραγματικά είχαν υπέροχη γεύση. Ήταν μαλακές και είχαν ακριβώς τη σωστή ποσότητα αλατιού. Παρήγγειλα μια σαλάτα συνοδευτική, κάτι που ίσως ήταν ο λόγος που δεν κατάφερα να φάω όλο το νόστιμο φαγητό τους, το οποίο συνοδευόταν με τέσσερις φέτες φρέσκο λευκό ψωμί, ένα κρεμμύδι και ένα λεμόνι. Όταν σήκωσα ένα κομμάτι αρνί, το κρέας έπεσε αμέσως από το κόκαλο. Δεν υπήρχαν σχεδόν καθόλου μπαχαρικά στο τρυφερό αρνί, αλλά το κρέας μαζί με το λίπος είχε τόσο καθαρή και υπέροχη γεύση που οτιδήποτε άλλο θα ενοχλούσε τη γεύση. Είναι μια οικογενειακή επιχείρηση όπου εργάζονται τρεις γενιές. Παρεμπιπτόντως, με ρώτησε ο γιος τους αν ήθελα το φαγητό με λίπος ή χωρίς, κάτι που είναι πολύ ωραίο καθώς κάποιοι άνθρωποι το προτιμούν με λίπος και άλλοι όχι. Σε αυτό το μέρος λαμβάνεις πραγματικά καλό φαγητό, μαγειρεμένο με αγάπη. Έχω φάει και κοντά στην παραλία, αλλά τα εστιατόρια στον παραλιακό δρόμο προσφέρουν κυρίως κατεψυγμένα βιομηχανικά φαγητά που είναι άνοστα και δεν αξίζει να πας εκεί. Μια μικρή βόλτα μετά το φαγητό είναι ευχάριστη και θα συνιστούσα τις μη τουριστικές περιοχές για να αποκτήσεις μια καταπληκτική εντύπωση της παραδοσιακής κυπριακής κουζίνας. Σίγουρα προτείνω...

Fantastic old school restaurant wich serves Kleftiko (Cypriot style lamb leg prepared in stone stove on slow fire). They serve it with potatoes baked alongside Kleftiko and they might be even tastier than meat. Meat falls from bones and melts in your mouth. It's simply perfect 👌🏻The price for eating in the restaurant is €14 for portion which includes potatoes. For takeaway is €12. Portion is enough for a very hungry man to feel full. My first meal in cyrpus after my flight, I walk in around 16:30. Worst possible time, between lunch and dinner, it's hot and humid and the ladies who own the place are having a break. I said "hello" the lady points at me and says "Kleftiko?" I'm not gonna argue with the lady, I said "yes" and that was pretty much the whole interaction until I went to pay my bill.
