Kuzuba in Nicosia left me with mixed feelings. While there were some standout elements, there were also areas where I felt it didn’t live up to the hype with the worst part being the overpriced dishes.
Starting with the positives, the ambience is wonderfully cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, adding to the enjoyable atmosphere. Kuzuba does have a few memorable dishes, like the kuzuba salad, which was refreshing with a unique blend of flavors. The beef poureki was the star for me, packed with rich aromas and flavor that stood out. I also enjoyed the smoked eggplant spread; it’s a great starter for eggplant fans, offering a satisfying smokiness without being overwhelming. Also the orzo with mushrooms and truffle was quite enjoyable.
However, the experience became more mixed as we tried other dishes. The braised ossobuco, while intriguing, had an overpowering smoked flavor that didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The chicken souvlaki was well-cooked, with soft pita, though the garlic flavor was a bit too intense for my taste. The iberico pork, unfortunately, was the low point of the meal—it lacked seasoning and depth, and the accompanying sauce was underwhelming.
The evening ended on a high note with dessert. Both the kadaifi with cream and the brownie with caramel and vanilla ice cream were delicious, definitely the highlight of the night.
One notable downside was the portion sizes. We paid 56 euros per person, which felt steep considering we left still hungry. For that price, I expected a bit more in terms of both portion size and overall satisfaction.
While Kuzuba has a lot of potential with its cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and some standout dishes, the small portions, highly prices and inconsistent flavors left me...
Read moreI recently had an exceptional dining experience at this restaurant. We sampled several dishes, each of which was outstanding. The pork belly was perfectly cooked, with a crisp exterior and tender, flavorful meat. The shrimp orzo was creamy and rich, with the shrimp cooked to perfection, adding a delightful seafood essence.
The Kuzuba salad was fresh and well-balanced, providing a refreshing contrast to the richer dishes. A highlight of the meal was the antikristo lamb, which was incredibly juicy and infused with smoky, traditional flavors it practically melted in the mouth. We also enjoyed the kataifi wrapped feta, which offered a wonderful combination of crunchy kataifi pastry and soft, salty feta cheese, though it would have been even better with a bit less kataifi so the feta could stand out more.
However, I found that the beer selection could have been more diverse, especially considering the summer season when customers might look for something more refreshing. The available beers were not very approachable, as they tended to have heavy, complex aromas rather than light. Additionally, the beer glass itself was quite heavy, which made it uncomfortable to hold over time.
The service was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a memorable meal featuring traditional Greek flavors presented with...
Read moreSuch a delightful establishment! The food, the people (bravo especially for that!) the vibe the cocktails the music!!! Five stars all the way! A must visit for Nicosia. We started with an amazing eggplant dip different from any other place and the most delicious EVER!!! Lovely tahini, chimichurri and carrot dips, to die for artichokes!!!, vibrant green pea salad with some kind of soft cheese (drooling) a bagel type bread (drooling again) and then main course was the catch of the day.. a huge fish freshly caught cooked just right with a bed of eggplant puree and green smoked wheat. Simple ingredients put together creating a light yet delicious main. And the desserts! We got the kataifi and yogurt with honey, and they both were fresh, light and exactly right to finish dinner.. We will b back as we hear they use mainly local seasonal produce and change the menu accordingly so must visit all year round (not to miss a thing!!) This is not your typical snobbish Nicosia restaurant… this is a cozy place you can visit even just for cocktails on the bar.. (If you are a mezetzis, you may ask them for a fish head…...
