One of the most anticipated places came to town. Exceptional decoration and somewhere here the good things stop. Unacceptable food for the place and price, overpriced, the service it was good but they screwed it at the end. We ordered a version of Caesar salad which was very average, pitta bread 6 pieces with deeps for 6€ with nothing on or with to support the price, the kind that bring it free in other restaurants and 4 meatballs for 15€. All these tasted very average but in comparison with their price should have been on another level.
For main, I will just highlight the striploin steak which was UNACCEPTABLE, with no crust from the outside, uneven cooked medium to well in some parts and well done in other parts. Even the French fries that came with were not fresh.
The other plates were "wanna be gourmet plates" with no taste.
The service was good, at least the guy that took the order but they did something that was UNACCEPTABLE. They opened a bottle of water without first asking and in a few minutes the bottle of water was finished and they opened another one. When we noticed and confronted them that we had not ordered a second one, we did not want to make a scene for the first one, the lady said that it was on them. She said that in a tone like she was buying us a bottle of champagne and she was doing us a favor. After a few minutes she came back with the guy who took the order in a very rude way to tell us that indeed we had ordered two bottles of water. It was like she was telling us in an indirect way that we were lying. Over and above that the bottle of water worth 4€. Imagine in doing that in all the tables and take 8-12€ only for water.
If they knew what customer service and satisfaction was they would not even mention it for a product that is worth 70-90 cents and they would have subtract it from the bill which they did at the end after all this drama for a bottle of water!!
Stay away. Gourmet prices, for average food with behavior that...
Read moreThe ambience is perfect. The staff are warm and welcoming and highly professional. The menu is full of promise. Unfortunately, the food just did not meet the expectations set by the menu, the feel of the restaurant, or the cost.
The first issue was the "sourdough". It was not remotely sour, lacking entirely the lactic acid produced by the slow fermentation process. The bread lacked gluten structure and the 'chew' of a sourdough. In short, it was not sourdough. It was very nice bread though.
The Tuna ceviche was presented as a tartare. The flavours were well balanced with the acidity of the ceviched tuna cutting through the intense richness of the black truffle. This was a very good dish.
The sea bass carpaccio was very cleverly engineered and presented very well. Unfortunately the flavours in the dish were restricted to spring onion and soy sauce(apparently 'black vinegar') some aromatic herbs or spices and some genuine acidity would have assisted. This dish was mediocre.
The tuna steak was tragic. Accompanied by a very fine sauce based on cod roe with excellent flavour complexity and richness, the tuna steak itself had been murdered by being heavily brined. This gave it a dry, crumbly texture. Along with a preserved, almost ham-like taste. Think 'corned tuna'. Looking like a piece of plastic imitation tuna on an Ikea showroom plate, I can't think of any worse way to treat a piece of such a regal fish. The lentils were well executed although probably shouldn't be served so much below room...
Read moreWe were impressed by the layout, the decorations and welcome. It seemed like it had an enjoyable atmosphere. However, it is expensive. We ordered the food at 2100 and got them at 21:47. Although the presentation was very nice, the food was below average. The pesto sauce in the chicken el pesto dish was delicious however, if we weren’t hungry we wouldn’t have eaten the chicken as it was super hard, dry and chewy. It was even difficult to cut the chicken with the knife. The salmon carpaccio was frozen when eating it, you could feel the ice under your teeth. In the chicken Paillard dish the potatoes were cold and the chicken was dry. Taste is subjective, however when it comes to texture it’s not. And I’ve been to many restaurants around the world to be able to know the difference and compare. However, staff were...
