Museum of the National Struggle — Attraction in Nicosia

Interesting (free) museum about the fight for independence, mainly by the EOKA. Very ideological and a bit one sided (Greek nationalism as an inherently good thing), it's still a great introduction to the struggle of the cypriot people. A lot of photographs, documents and belongings of the fighters. Wouldn't miss out on it while being in Cyprus, because (as for many I guess) this part of history was completely unknown...

After reading about the history of the national struggle, I was really looking forward to visiting this museum and it didn't disappoint. A very powerful and moving exhibition which I visited with Cypriots old enough to have been part of the struggles. Additional English translations would make it make it more accessible to the uninitiated. It should be on every British tourist 'must visit' list. Tucked away and looked closed so...
