Madama Residence — Hotel in Nicosia

This is an amazing hotel, one of the best I have ever stayed at. We wanted a hotel in the centre of the old town, close to bars, restaurants, shops and close to the border to the Turkish side of the city but also quiet. This hotel is all of these things and the bed was comfortable and the room had good air con. However, it was so much more- the staff are amazing and gave us great personalised kind service- nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is an historic building full of amazing artwork, it’s like staying in a museum. The breakfast was cooked to order and was provided with fresh orange juice and latte coffee- superb. Whilst we didn’t eat dinner at the restaurant it looked superb and had great reviews. Booked a table for 2 for Valentine's day since there was a "special" set-menu that looked promising (40 euros per person). Unfortunately the whole experience was disappointing and quite frustrating. We waited more than 1 hour for the starters, 2 out of the 4 dishes were served cold one of which being the main dish, which we had to return back to the kitchen. Overall, there seemed to be no organization as the waiters were not familiar with the table arrangement, and which table should be served first. The live music whereas good, it was too loud for the restaurant space and so one could not have a normal conversation. None of the above...

Such a great place in Nicosia! The historical vibe of the building and the old centre of Nicosia together with the beautiful original art pieces decorating the walls is perfect for enjoying a carefully prepared dinner. They have a good selection of wines, actually my last visit there was for a dine and wine experience organized by Wine and More by French Depot in Nicosia featuring a gourmet dinner prepared by Chef Iosif Anghel paired with an amazing selection of wines from Purcari Winery from Moldova.
