A very traditional Cypriot experience, evident by how many locals were dining in or getting a take out. Had a warm welcome and was quickly seated. Sat indoors because the A/C was on and it was a really hot day. Ordered our choices, unfortunately the Lima beans had run out so opted for the black eyed beans and the meatballs. We ordered a village salad to share, and when served there was a large griddled bun with olive oil and herbs too.
The food was delicious, the meatballs had rice and Cypriot potatoes and the beans had marrow with it. As you would expect, the village salad was fresh, with tomatoes, village cucumbers, peppers and lettuce and a generous amount of feta.
The bill came in at €26 which included a large bottle of Keo and a bottle of water which we felt was really good value for money. The restaurant is a little off the tourist trail (not that we are tourists) but well worth the effort and I am sure we...
Read moreI was looking for a local restaurant, and I found it by chance. It was packed with locals. Always a good sign. I walked in. The menu was in Greek, so I was asking about any vegetarian meal. The owner instantly made me comfortable explaining the veggie options also apologising about not having an English menu—no big deal. The food was generously big and lovely. We've got a significant portion of free mezze, including tzatziki, olives tahini, pickles, homemade Cyprus salad and fresh bread as starters all in the house. As the main meal, a selection of nicely prepared vegan food and some grilled sea bass and chips. Everything was perfect. Good Cyprus coffee too. The restaurant has a nice outside sitting area, a free car park and an excellent chance to speak with real locals at the next table. This lovely local restaurant is highly...
Read moreThe worse restaurant experience I've ever had.
Being a Greek speaker who stays locally in Paphos every Summer, I have had mixed experiences in the past. I called in advance to ask if they had kleftiko and fish and was told that they did, albeit the person on the phone did not seem to speak Greek too well. We reserved a table for three.
When we got there, there was no kleftiko or fish. The meals were pre-made, there was no menu or prices and limited in options, I went for the chicken which looked overcooked. It was in fact very overcooked and dry and I only managed to eat half before feeling nauseous. I also had to constantly get up to get the waitress' attention. To make matters worse, we were charged 4 euros for a salad.
The owner did not apologise for anything or reduce the bill in any way. We will never...
