Waves Cocktail Bar — Restaurant in Paralimni

I came to this bar with life long friends and some new people we had met just that night. We had some great fun, the staff were friendly and service was good, until the check came. The new friends we had met had ordered just one drink each at €4 per drink but they left the bar before we did and didn't pay, I assume because they just forgot, their mistake, not ours. When we came to pay our bill we were told about the outstanding balance. As small as it was, it wasn't our responsibility to pay the bill which we explained to the server and she told the owner this. The owner sent her back and forth rather than speak to us himself and I could see she was getting flustered and I felt awful for her so I went to speak to the owner myself to simply explain that it wasn't our responsibility to pay someone else's bill and it's unreasonable to expect us to pay for it. The owner got disproportionately aggressive with us. Amongst the explaining he put his hand in my partners face which I consider to be extremely rude and began to shout even more and it ended in what I can only describe as a humiliating scene for us. His customer service skills are extremely poor. I understand he has money to make but the way he handled it was wrong. At one point I had to stand between him and my partner because it appeared that he was trying to lay his hands on him. We left, escorted by a staff member because the situation was escalating and I just wanted to leave or for the earth to swallow me whole, outside I was made aware that this wasn't an isolated incident in regard to the owners attitude towards customers. If he had behaved differently, he may have gotten the bill out of me as it was just €8 but when I saw how he treats people, there wasn't a chance that would happen. I'd like to apologise to the staff for their discomfort, especially the young lady who had to act like a messenger but the owner really does need to reconsider how he behaves in future because that level of aggression...

First & last visit due to very aggressive, rude, deplorable manager. Having looked at other reviews on trip advisor & Google, this doesn’t appear to be a one off!

Visited tonight with my husband & our parents, all ordering a drink and listening to the live music. Had a lovely evening, but unfortunately one of the cocktails was undrinkable. It wasn’t drunk, & when it came to paying for the bill, we asked for it to be removed. Annoyingly my husband had paid the bill before seeing that the disputed drink was still on there. My father raised this with the waiter, who went off to the bar, & returned advising “the manager wants to speak with you at the bar” This was already not a great start - Surely the manager should come to the table & ask what the problem is, not hide behind his bar? He refused to refund the drink, arguing that it was our fault? Rather than just accept the feedback & refund 1 of 7 drinks, he became extremely aggressive & rude, screaming for us to get out & causing a massive scene within the bar.

My husband didn’t take well to being spoken to this way, & all of the bar staff acted like little minions gathering around my husband to intimidate him which is totally unacceptable. The manager was extremely aggressive, at one point chasing after us in the middle of the bar & screaming at my mother in law who was trying to defuse the situation! I am not sure how you would ever think that is acceptable to do that to a woman who hasn’t even said a word to you?!

We had drank here on a number of occasions, friendly staff however I had the mispleasure of meeting the manager who feels it is acceptable for a member of his staff to pour a whole tray of drinks over my wife and not pay for the dry cleaning because it “was an accident”. The fact that the member of staff was carrying too many drinks doesn’t come into it. Please avoid if you want an acceptable level of customer service.
