Check in was easy, room was ready for us as we arrived about 8pm. Room: was on the high tech side, reminded me of Wynn resorts in Las Vegas, lights all on one control system. May suite some people but the panel wouldn’t completely dim at night and it’s bedside so you’ll see it during sleep. Blackout curtains don’t black out completely so you’ll wake up to sunshine every morning. They’re strict with the towels in the room if you don’t get the room cleaned they will exchange for new ones. They don’t have face towels. Their shampoos and soaps are of good quality. Bed was very comfortable for us and the pillows; however we heard one lady complain it was too soft and wanted a board under the bed. The room we had was right across where housekeeping congregates each morning - kind of loud but was able to go back to sleep after they start their work. Apparently if your room has the DND sign on housekeeping cards do not work for entry. I liked that feature, So no one wakes you up knocking at 8am. Breakfast: -2 floor by the pool. The breakfast had several options for sweets/pastries, fruits, yogurts, cereals, meat, meats, eggs, coffee, juice. But I’d have to highlight the breakfast staff, they were kind and very hard working. We always arrived just about a half hour before, and one gentleman would offer all the guests one last opportunity at the food and beverages prior to closing at their scheduled time. Spa and gym: -1 floor, gym area is clean, equipment ranges from benches, free weights, cables, treadmill and bike, yoga class/aerobic room, TRX, foam rollers, yoga mats/balls. Spa is nice, but a little small for a luxury type hotel. Hours are 0900-1630. We booked a couples massage a couple days prior. Unfortunately one of their massage therapists wasn’t able to come in on the day we had scheduled so we had to split our times- one after another - I thought it would be appropriate to offer even a 5 or 10% discount on the service for the inconvenience/not the advertised option - but I didn’t bother- just wanted to enjoy it. Elena at the front desk of the spa at least helped us coordinate and was sincere. She made sure everything was perfect for us. The massage itself was great, Fatima was the therapist who worked on my wife and I, very thorough, relaxing massage with good pressure. Not sure what she put on my face but it’s probably the softest in my life. Came out feeling fantastic. Pool: the chairs get packed, have breakfast early and grab the area you like. The beach right in front of the hotel is nice, clear waters, right amount of shallow to stand knee or hip depth. Front desk: these ladies are one team that handle the hotel, luggage storage, check in/out, any room issues, etc. most on the stoic side, they don’t smile as much as the rest of the island. Always felt a bad vibe/tension crossing in and out of the hotel Location: just a 2min walk to the strip. It’s close to the beginning of the strip, lots of great options for food, cars, tours, mini markets, gift shops. Good spot if you want to be close by to everything. There’s a bus 101 or 102 that can take you into Ayia Napa or other beaches. Just go to the bus station and there are boards with the direction of bus and timetables. They only take cash/euros. The front desk didn’t seem like they knew a whole...
Read moreOkay so I don't know where to start.. Have to say that in the beginning we were happy with the hotel and the facilities, but when we had problems with our room, the hotel manager Lisa weren't very friendly anymore. We reported our travel agent that we had problems in our room, and our travel agent told us that they will tell the hotel how to manage and told them to send our clothes to laundry and wash also our bags. Hotel promised to our travel agent that they would send our stuff to laundry, and we also had a nice talk with guest relations manager Tsokos who was very friendly, apologised for the inconvenience and understood the situation. At this point we were happy and thought that everything was fine. So we packed our things to laundry bags after talking with Tsokos and our laundries were picked up from our room. In the evening reception called us that our laundrys were in reception and that they would bring them to us. In couple minutes came another phone call and reception informed us that we need to come to reception to see if all our laundries were back. We were bit surprised at this point, but went to reception. We were informed that the laundries had been washed in some employees home!!! And we needed to count now that all our clothes were there. Hotel manager Lisa was there, and she forced us to go through our laundry in HOTEL LOBBY. She didnt't let us do it in our room though we asked nicely. She was yelling us that it's our fault because we didn't write a note what was in the laundry bags, but nobody asked us to do that and there was no form in the laundry bags they gave us. So there we were, in hotel lobby, next to other clients, counting our socks, bras and underwears. It was 100% humiliating. All this time hotel manager Lisa was standing next to us and yelling most of the time. She yelled us that it was "goodwill gesture" that they washed the clothes, though our travel agency told us it's a protocol and the hotel must do it. So we went through all our stuff quickly there and tried to head back to our room, but Lisa didn't let us. She demanded that we had to sign a form which states that all our clothes were returned from laundry, which was some employees home, and we refused. We told her we are not sure whether everything is back and that we would go them through again in privacy of our room. Lisa Tsolaski didn't approve this and she started to yell again. She was trying to pull the laundry bags from my friends hands and managed to take one. At this point we left to our room, my friend was crying and we both were shocked. There's no way staff can touch guests in any matter, and the way Lisa was acting was just inappropriate. We called our travel agency and they were also shocked. They called the hotel and the laundry bag, that Lisa stole, was returned to our room with other staff member. Luckily we were checking out same evening, otherwise we would have insisted to change the hotel.
Lisa is a hotel manager and I really hope she doesn't treat the hotel staff same way as she...
Read moreMy stay at the Flamingo Paradise Beach Hotel in Ayia Napa was undeniably disappointing, mainly due to the subpar dining experiences we encountered. In all my travels, I struggle to recall encountering food of such poor quality in a purported 4-star hotel.
Our troubles began with breakfast, as my wife, who follows a dairy and gluten-free diet, faced persistent disregard for her dietary needs. The staff's limited understanding of "gluten-free" led to misleading labels and inaccurate information on the menu, resulting in immense frustration. Even the listed allergies were often incorrect (please refer to the attached pictures). The vegan options were lacking, and the fruits and vegetables on offer were of subpar quality, drenched in excessive grease, rendering breakfast far from the healthy start we expected.
As if that weren't enough, the orange juice machine broke down after just two days, leaving guests with the unappetizing choices of plain water or inferior apple syrup.
Even after four days, the hotel couldn't provide gluten-free porridge for my wife, offering almond milk and nuts instead, a combination that lacked inspiration and flavor.
On our fifth day, Nadia finally informed us that they had obtained gluten-free porridge, but on the last day of our stay, they attempted to serve us overcooked rice, seemingly thinking we wouldn't notice. When I returned the meal, Nadia informed me that they had run out of gluten-free porridge, leaving me utterly speechless.
In the midst of this culinary disappointment, Nadia was a rare beacon of knowledge and helpfulness, but her competence was overshadowed by the general lack of understanding about dietary requirements.
Drawing from my two decades of experience in the London hospitality industry, I can confidently say that I have never encountered such a woeful dining experience. The culinary offerings at the Flamingo Paradise Beach Hotel were nothing short of a severe letdown, and I would strongly advise against considering a visit if dining holds any importance for your stay.
Our disappointment extended to the hotel's restaurant, where we encountered even more culinary letdowns. A notable example was the "fish soup," which turned out to be an excessively rich "Salmon soup" with an unpleasant taste.
My attempt to salvage the situation with grilled prawns and vegetables only led to tough, unappetizing prawns, raising concerns about their quality. The gluten-free pizza I reluctantly settled for was no better, resembling a generic, uninspiring frozen supermarket pizza.
If you value your well-being and have any expectations for a pleasant dining experience, I strongly urge you to avoid the dining facilities at this establishment. The staff here is clearly ill-equipped to deliver a satisfactory culinary experience. After enduring three days of disappointment, I made the wise decision to abstain from dining at this...
