Dolce Vita Ristorante Italiano — Restaurant in Peyia

VERY Mixed experience, first visit to Coral Bay, staying close by. My wife picked this restaurant. Italian isn't my thing tbh, but my wife wanted to go there. Drinks and wine were ordered. On the menu outside I'd seen the Dolce Vito Burger mentioned on the special board outside so agreed to go, burger is a burger after all. On ordering food, I was told that the burger was not available. Sold out?? I don't know. It was 3:15, the specials menu was until 4pm. Maybe it's just there to get you in, like a bait and switch. I had encouraged my wife to order a 30 euro mussels main and kids to order what ever they wanted. I didn't see anything I fancied so ordered chips only, the wife had said she'd send some of her mussels my way to the manager/waiter. Meals arrived, my chips didn't. When I raised it, the man, manager possibly claimed I hadn't ordered chips. Strange as he'd gone away for 5 minutes while I looked at the menu after finding out burgers were not available.

Confusion I can understand. Attitude I can't. It became an unnecessary situation. He appeared offended, defensive. And said if I wanted chips, I'd get chips! Confrontational in my opinion but i declined. I should have walked out but the drinks and wine had arrived by that point.

Big shame. He came back a couple of times for ketchup/wine etc for my family, clearly aware of issues and clearly defensive but lacking the skills to rectify the situation.

I read through the reviews and see the guy described in quite a few, he could be the manager!

In summary: Kids food great. Wife's food really good. My food was non existent and the managers attitude stunk. The other staff were nice. It's a shame when one person can taint the restaurant. I visit family in Paphos every year, never go all inclusive. I use different restaurants every night. I won't be back.

On another day we'd have had a dessert after the mains, a 2nd bottle of wine, coffee and tipped.

Due to the attitude of the one person we paid for what we'd ordered and left.

The supermarket do a great cheese and ham roll that I'd never have discovered otherwise so not all bad.

We visited here last night, and the overall experience was average. Note: the service staff were really nice, and this is a review of the food and location only!

We ordered the Shrimp cocktail and cheesy garlic foccacia. There was one shrimp in the cocktail and a few prawns. No bread or butter came with it which was disappointing. The focaccia was fine, needed more garlic which would of made it much tastier!

We then ordered the RIGATONI ALFREDO (gluten free with penne) and the ARABIATO pizza. The pasta was undercooked and hard (not 'al dente') but actually hard. The sauce was bland with very little garlic. I had to ask for chilli oil to compensate and that did a bit to help, but we left a lot of it.

The pizza was greasy and you could peel the topping off! It was also covered in toppings but was somehow bland!

In terms of location, we were sat outside on the veranda (we chose this table) but you are then faced with the very noisy road, where cars rev their engines (which I appreciate the restaurant cannot control). Smoking outside is also permitted and so unfortunately we had cigarette smoke blowing in our faces for a lot of the evening.

There are cats roaming around though, and this was sweet.
