I was fortunate enough to grow up in Houston, Texas...the BBQ capital of the world. Well every since I moved to live and work abroad in 2014 I have been searching for decent BBQ. I have lived and traveled all over from Dubai, Amsterdam, London, Barcelona, Rome, and many other European cities. None of which had decent BBQ. Well I moved to Prague, Czech Republic in 2017. Yesterday I went to BIG SMOKERS after getting a recommendation from a vip at the American Embassy. Well as soon as I walked thru the doors of this joint I knew it was going to be something special. I was overwhelmed with the smell of mesquite BBQ wood and the delicious aroma of ribs. Well I ordered my plate which I really enjoy the way they let you create your own plate. I had a full serving of BBQ beef ribs, small taste of sausage, potato salad, & bbq beans ( I opted out of their rolls which I now regret). I took my plate and sat down and could immediately smell the aroma of the meat and beans target my nose. I took one bite of the ribs and was immediately transported back to my childhood as if I was eating at the Goode BBQ Co in Houston. The meal was amazing! The meat melted in my mouth. The beans were fresh as well as the tangy potato salad! Everything was fresh and homemade. This is why I regret not taking any of the rolls. I was fortunate to meet the friendly manager who spoke with me a bit about the owners who I said must have lived in Texas and he said they had lived in the USA south for 15 years. Well he was kind enough to send me a complimentary czech danish that was so fresh and soft it literally broke apart on the way to my mouth. It was incredibly delicious! He told me they had a bakery right above the restaurant and they made all their breads and baked items fresh daily! He says any baked items not sold that day they eat themselves! They never serve day old items! (I wonder if they need part time help😜🤣) well in short this is a great place for the best BBQ outside of Texas I have ever found. The staff are all young and very nice! The decor is like any BBQ stand in Texas and just a great food experience for me. I highly recommend it...5+ STARS...
Read moreI'm thrilled to share my experience at this Texas style barbecue joint in Prague, a place that has become a regular haunt for me. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with the enticing aroma of perfectly seasoned and smoked meat that promises a feast for the senses.
The quality of the meat here is truly exceptional - each bite is a testament to the care and expertise that goes into preparing it. Whether it's brisket, ribs, pulled pork, or that delivious beef cheeks, the flavors are rich and the textures are spot on. It's clear that only the best cuts of meat are used, resulting in a dining experience that is consistently top-notch.
The sandwiches they make are a real standout as well. The combination of tender, flavorful meat, or smoked portobello mushrooms(one of my favs), fresh buns, and delicious toppings never fails to impress. Each bite is a symphony of flavors that leaves you craving more.
The service is always friendly and relaxed, creating a welcoming atmosphere that keeps me coming back time and time again. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive, always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that every visit is a memorable one.
And let's not forget about the amazing beers on tap and other drink selections! The ever-changing selection of craft beers and beverages means there's always something new to try, adding an extra element of excitement to each visit.
In summary, this Texas style barbecue spot in Prague is a true gem that never disappoints. With its outstanding meat quality, delicious sandwiches, friendly service, and impressive drink selection, it's no wonder it has become a favorite of mine. Five stars...
Read moreWe arrived on a saturday evening after an exhausting game party to have a burger and fries on the side. No welcoming, no hi or anything from the staff, only looking at us silently upon the entry... then I finally approached the counter to ask for information how their system worked cos it wasn't clear and the first glimpse. Answer: Self service! ... I don't know how we looked like but I'm sure clueless was one of them, so some help would have been great. I understand that this place represents an American system, but for a Europian person such me, LB and other non metric measurements mean absolutely 0. Many lines above the counter with no information about how to get a simple burger with fries, not knowing how much will it cost... I can imagine it's part of the business model to lure ppl into more cost, then they would pay for simple things.... All-in-all .... exhausted, brain-fried, with no help from the staff (apparently they dislike non czech customers....), trying to figure out the riddle what the menu supposed to mean, we chose to leave. I went peevish by the moment feeling the cluelessness and with no-help from the staff which was carefully and silently watching us feeling lost... for that I apologise, I was hungry. We want to thank you specifically for the emphasis on the highly sarcastic and LOUD "BYYYEEE" coming behind the counter. I'm sure this was the best how you can serve customers... pretty sure it brings a lot for the company too. I don't recommend this place, on the corner there are better places with more respect than 0...
