I booked this restaurant for a work dinner, and if this review was solely based on my colleagues' experience, I'm sure it would be a 5/5. However, this is my personal experience. Starting from what I found great: the place and service were amazing, and I appreciated all the wines we tasted. Our server was professional, explaining in detail every single dish. Now, for what I found simply not up to the standard I expected: I booked our table one week in advance, and asked if they could provide a vegan option for me. The restaurant confirmed that there was no issue with this request. The first entree was good, however, from the second entree I began to be disappointed, as I was served the same exact entree as the other guests, minus the fish element, but with nothing to replace it. The pasta course was OK, but a tomato and eggplant pasta was simply underwhelming when compared with the deconstructed carbonara agnolotti my colleagues were served. But above all I was disappointed by the following course: my colleagues were served a plate with meat, braised vegetables, and a sauce, while I was served a plate with the same braised vegetables, a pool of red wine sauce and... Nothing to replace the meat. This baffled me and everyone who looked at my plate. Someone joked that perhaps they forgot my main. The dessert (fruit and sorbet) was good, but again, hardly comparable to the level of interesting flavors present in my colleagues' plate. I am saddened by this experience because in 2024 I believe the options available when preparing vegan and vegetarian meals have become quite varied and easily accessible, and I would expect for any chef to be able to create something delicious even without meat, fish, or cheese. Look at the company Juicy Marbles, which has a line of restaurant grade plant-based meats. Look at how seitan can be made from scratch starting from regular flour and turned into any kind of "meaty" preparation. Mushrooms can also be used almost like meat in many preparations! What I'm saying is, for 800 kr (and well over 1000 kr when including drinks), it is simply not acceptable in 2024 to be served a plate of vegetables minus the meat as the vegan option. I would understand if I had not let the restaurant know in advance - but I did, and still it felt like a complete afterthought. In the end, I would have preferred for the restaurant to say "no, we cannot accommodate your request" and I would have looked for an alternative restaurant for...
Read moreLast evening was feeling like eating a good pasta and what better than an Italian restaurant would provide it? In Aalborg, we couldn’t enter without a prior reservation so we made it by phone app in no time at all. There is a nice layout and I’ve heard that the place is renovated ( for the better!). Loved the proud articles on the wall about Italy winning the Soccer European Championship !!
Staff is young and friendly, courteous and ready to serve your needs. The spaghetti carbonara was however quite dry and even with added olive oil I couldn’t savour it. The starter mozzarella was a tinny tinny little ball of mozzarella swamped in a hand of rocket salat… hmmm. Expected a bit more. Not sure if I...
Read moreFood was ok. Price is exagerated and nothing special. I give only 3 stars. I was dissappointed with the cashier. She made mistakes with my bill. I noticed this and told her about the mistake, then she said "oooh sorry I have to give you back 9 kr". Then I walked away and but think again it was still wrong. I got back to her and asked my bill...I want to check. She found my bill and say again " ooh sorry I have to give you 30 kr more"... It's really annoying. It' s not a big money but I wonder how could she made 2 times mistakes, as she said. And wonder why she did not give my bill. That would be the first and last...
