Sparks notes version: Pretty okay food, not the cheapest, nice atmosphere, overall decent experience.
Long review version: Our first impression was the big seating area and very high ceilings. There could easily be 200+ people inside the restaurant. Which is quite impressive for how busy it was for only been opened for 1 week.
It was interesting how they had a mix of Japanese, Thai, and Chinese food here. So it didn't stick to one specific South east Asian cuisine.
We came here to try their Bao buns (fluffy Chinese buns) since it is not many places in Aarhus that serves them. We tried the three different kinds: crab cake, crispy pork, and Korean fried chicken.
My personal favorite was the crab. Since I have never tried it in a Bao bun, not even outside of Denmark. You could really taste the crab and it wasn't over dominated by the other ingredients in the Bao.
My husband loved the crispy pork, because it was like flæskesteg (pork with cracklings) so it had an enjoyable textural experience.
We agreed the KFC was "eh" we couldn't taste the gochujang 😭 and it tasted a lot of mayo! 🤨 And it wasn't at all spicy! 💔
I ordered the sticky pork rib, which was very tender and pretty juicy. Although I would have liked that there was more sauce. Fortunately, I could use some of my husband's sauce that came with his duck fried spring roles (which were also fine) 😕 The fried spring roles were very fresh though and were pretty stuffed.
Then I ordered the dim sum, which was the most boring of the items we tried. Two dumplings and a tiny bowl of soup. I don't think it was worth the price we paid for it. But now I can say I tried it 🤷🏼♀️
The cocktails were interesting because most used yuzu in it. Not that you could really taste it in the drinks, but it did slightly change the classics like daiquiri, margarita, Pina colada, and Whiskey sour. Out of the four drinks we tried, we enjoyed the plum daiquiri the most.
For those wondering what is included in the 12 servings for 375 DKK. It is the 1st 4 menu items, smashed cucumber Salad, dim sum + few of the other small dishes + pork Bao + one of the curries + (as far as I remember) sweet yuzu. In my opinion, they are selling you the cheapest items and not enough of the more exciting dishes, like the Baos.
A group of our friends were also visiting the restaurant the same time as us and they ordered the 12 servings, but it seemed like by the time they got to the Bao bun, they were too full really enjoy it.
In conclusion, the crab cake Bao was the best. Best drink: plum daiquiri. I've tried everything that I wanted to try and I don't need to come back to this restaurant. And I wouldn't recommend much else than the drinks and...
Read moreWe had an unforgettable evening at that deserves more than just a 5-star rating.
From the moment we walked in, everything was absolutely fantastic. The atmosphere was vibrant with great music, and the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, especially Victoria, who truly made our night special.
We opted for the tasting menu, which featured the restaurant’s top 10 favorite dishes, along with the tasting cocktail menu. Every dish was of the highest standard – mega delicious and impeccably presented. The food felt like high-class cuisine but at a price that didn't break the bank.
The open kitchen added to the welcoming vibe, and the restaurant maintained a perfect balance of being lively without being too loud.
The bathrooms were spotless, which is always a plus, and the overall vibe of the place was just right. It was great to see a mix of families with young kids and couples enjoying their evening.
The highlight of the evening was the dessert course. Initially, the desserts served were not to my liking, but Victoria noticed this without me having to say a word. She went above and beyond to find something that suited my tastes perfectly, turning a great evening into an outstanding one.
I can't recommend this place enough and we are already looking forward to our next visit.
If you want an exceptional dining experience with fantastic food, great music, and a welcoming atmosphere, this is the...
Read moreDisappointed on my Son’s B’day - Unfair experience!
We were a group of four adults, a 10-year-old, and a 2-year-old, visiting to celebrate my son’s birthday. While this was my second time here and the starters were good, they accommodated allergy requests, however the overall experience fell far short of expectations.
We had looked forward to the full 10-course experience, but unfortunately, it didn’t happen the way we imagined. Despite arriving on time for our 18:30 reservation and being seated by 18:35, we didn’t receive our main course until 20:45. That’s over two hours of waiting unacceptable, especially with a 2-year-old in the group whose bedtime had already passed.
To make matters worse, we noticed that other guests who arrived after us received their mains before we did. This left us feeling overlooked, frustrated, also felt we were treated differently. Eventually, we had to pack our food to go, which completely ruined what was meant to be a special dine-in experience for our family.
Some staff apologized, We were offered complimentary drinks, but honestly, a drink doesn’t make up for the lost moments we came to share. We spent 2,000 kr for hanzo experience that ended in takeaway boxes, not the memorable celebration we had hoped for.
We expected a lot more from a place like this. Unfortunately, we left feeling let down, ignored, and with a ruined birthday experience...
