Ælsk Mad og Vinbar — Restaurant in Copenhagen Municipality

What a little gem. I'm staying in an AirBnB round the corner from the restaurant and just wanted to grab a quick lunch - ended up staying longer and taking a digestif to continue watching the world go by.

Service has been first class - attentive, good recommendations, friendly and helpful.

The food has been excellent, well presented and full of flavour. I feel the dishes could be slightly larger but balanced against the price compared to other bistros, I think think they are fine - I'm just a bit greedy and like a bit more on my plate! But honestly value for money I think they have hit it perfectly here.

To my taste the main course was slightly over salted (which I mentioned and was assured would be fed back to the chef) - but taste is subjective. So for this and the portion size it's 4* but I am being picky.

Location and outside eating is great - blessed that Copenhagen has a big cycling culture and lots of EVs that meant traffic noise is not intrusive.

Overall, would highly recommend and will probably take my lunch here...

The restaurant is high-end, with plenty of space between tables, which is rare in Copenhagen. The fresh flowers in vases are a nice touch, much appreciated. The presentation of the dishes is excellent, though the portions are small. My mushroom toast was impeccable, but the latte left much to be desired. Good restaurant with a great selection of Danish and Spanish inspired dishes. We had the croquettes to begin with, they were more like croquetas and they came in tow’s. One was enough for me as it was quite flavoursome. Instead of one main I had two starters which were delicious.
