An Unexpected Evening at Aamanns Genbo

We had high expectations when we pre-ordered a vegetarian tasting menu at Aamanns Genbo. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to those expectations.

The starter, a croquette, had a strange doughy texture that left us a bit puzzled. The main course, consisting of tartlets with salad, was unfortunately heavy with a wet, soggy crust. The entire main course was smothered in grated cheese and so salty that some components almost burned in the mouth.

The dessert was okay, but unfortunately, not enough to elevate the meal.

On the positive side, the service was top-notch. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, which certainly lifted our experience. As an additional gesture, they gave us a free cafe latte as compensation for the food.

Dropped in to have lunch. When I asked the waiter for a table for one, I was told that this was impossible and that I needed a reservation. I was puzzled, since there were several unoccupied tables. I went to have lunch somewhere else and when I walked past this place less than two hours later, all the same tables were unoccupied. I went for a late lunch with a friend who wanted me to be able to try the Danish delicacy of smørrebrod. As I am a vegetarian, he wanted to take me somewhere where I would have some options. We opted for the tasting menu, so I got to try four different smørrebrod and a delicious dessert. The restaurant was relaxed and servers were friendly.
