If you like mediocre, over-priced, pretentious food then Tramonto is the place for you. We went there to celebrate a family occasion as a special treat, not expecting that it would take nearly 3 hours to have dinner, with a long pause (45 minutes approximately) between our first and second courses and yet another unduly long pause before the final course. All of that would have been OK had the food been amazing, which it decidedly was not! Let's start with the charcuterie platter ('tagliere'). Instead of premium prosciutto crudo, fine salami or similar, we were given....wait for it....mortadella (!!) and coppa, which the wait staff introduced as 'prosciutto crudo'. To their credit, the wait staff admitted the mistake when I gently pointed out that the meat in question was not prosciutto. Already the warning bells were ringing in my head. Then the primi piatti. Pappardelle al cinghiale (home made pasta with wild boar sauce), a classic. This version: the sauce was fine, but the pappardelle had been subdued into an inedible mush. Unforgivable. The final insult was the secondi piatti (main course). My dining companion ordered veal. What emerged (after a 30-40? minute wait) from the kitchen was two slabs meat suitable to a school cafeteria in a thick, green sauce of unknown origin. This was unaccompanied by a sad little morsel of burnt broccoli. A ribeye steak was ruined with a 'wine sauce' which was sticky and thick, destroying what otherwise would have been a good steak. In short, endless waits for bad food. We tried gamely not to let it spoil the occasion, but it was a struggle. We felt forgotten by the staff, which is never a pleasant feeling. The views are nice. The terrace looked nice. Go for a drink, but...
Read moreI’ve been to Tramonto now a couple of times and the previous times we had a good experience. Yesterday however was very much disappointing. I invited my mother out for dinner and we both ordered the 4 courses menu. My mother ordered the regular season selection and I decided on the vegan selection. My mother’s menu was ok, but not great. My menu was not only tasteless, flavorless it was even bad tasting and not fitting well together. I needed to sent the primi dish back to the kitchen and needed to wait very long for the new one. The main dish with cabbage and curry was a horrible mix and again very weird spices/flavors but I ate half the cabbage without any of the souce as I already thought I can’t sent back one more dish and also because I didn’t wanted to wait again so long for a new one. The desert was lovely looking and good, but a bunch of different prepared vanilla ices - which was also funny cause my menu said I’ll get sorbet but I honestly was too upset to say something again... Especially since our waiter didn’t seem to care much. So based on yesterday experience I am very disappointed and don’t know if I can recommend...
Read moreWe went to have some drinks and food with a group of people. It was indeed a nice view to sit on the terrace but not going back any time soon. They have 0 vegetarian dishes let alone vegan. Very backwards in time and would expect more awarness of this kind of a location and restaurant. I ordered pasta with some kind of zichinni sauce and asked to have it without riccota. Ended up getting the riccota nevertheless and the weighter was very hopeful that I would take it (note I said I am also alergic to lactose). After requesting to have no riccota he brught it back some 4 minutes after, turns out there was some kind of pancetta in the bottom od the dish. Having super bad stomack ache since last night and with a bed feeling of having eaten at the rooftop restaurant. Hope you guys reconsider your very conservative, unimaginative and poor quality offer since you are not very special in the food types: pizza vs steak vs pasta - and not even a salat plate? I am sure you would have more people coming back since you at least have...
