I recently visited Alice Ice Cream & Coffee and unfortunately, my experience didn’t quite meet expectations. While the staff was efficient, they didn’t seem particularly engaged, which made the atmosphere feel a bit distant and less welcoming than I had hoped.

The food was a bit hit-or-miss. Two out of the three breads were slightly underbaked, making them a bit tougher than expected. The brunsviger had a surprising lemon flavor, which was an unusual twist for this traditional Danish pastry. It also seemed a bit undercooked, which was disappointing.

The morning platter, though presented nicely, felt a bit light for the price. It was ready too quickly, but it didn’t feel like a substantial meal. The coffee and juice were good, but nothing stood out as exceptional.

The café has the potential to be cozy, though I did notice a few flies which detracted from the experience. The toilets are quite compact, and overall, the space could use a little more attention to detail in terms of maintenance.

While Alice Ice Cream & Coffee has some positives, I left feeling that a few improvements could make it a more...

This hidden gem is a bit hard to find but worth the adventure, Alice Ice Cream and coffe is the best ice cream and coffee shop in Copenhagen.

Do not expect a broad selection of food or cakes, it is a very tight menu and if you're not in a ice cream mood they offer a small selections of bread and yoghurt to go with the coffee. Their main focus is quality and compared to quality the price level is very fair, coffee is 30-35 kr. and ice cream starts at 55 kr. for a cup.

Their sourdough buns and pastry is out of this world. Try a bun with biodynamic cheese and a coffee and enjoy the perfect start to your day, and top it up with one of the best croissant in Copenhagen, with layers you have to see to believe it.

And they have a unicorn at...

A truly stellar cardamom bun, for anyone that believes there isn't such a thing as too much cardamom. Fragrant, soft dough, very minor criticism that there was a slightly noticeable yeast after-taste, but overall one of the best cardamom buns. The croissant had good flakiness but was slightly denser than I prefer in the middle.

The yoghurt with granola was another standout - lovely, thick yoghurt, super-crunchy and nutty granola (which the menu says comes from the Københavns Bageri), and a fresh berry compote. Very simple but each individual element executed with care.

A cozy, calm atmosphere in which I would be happy to spend an hour...
