I want to start off by saying: The restaurant has reopened under the loving eyes and hands of Elisa and her partner and it is absolutly worth it. So all the comments below concerning breakfast, food in general or service in the reataurant, forget them. Stop by and let them show you. Yes, they just started, yes there are a few things to figure out, to adjust. That is normal. Talk about it, say what you think and it will be, in contrast to most other places I have been, considered and answered with a caring reaction to make you being able to adjust your experience and therefore opinion.
Hotel: Yes, some of the elements are outdated, broken or feel „cold“ as I read somewhere in the comments. Yes, the cleaning could be better, especially in the bathrooms and yes, I also don‘t understand why this should have 5 stars. Norm Architects did a great job though to create the essence of a contemporary, danish home away from home. I believe with a bit of extra heart putting into cleaning and a fresher, easier re-decorating and art choices that feel less like being in the Menu (now Audo) showroom, it deserves to be reconsidered. We actually saved up for three days here and we think it was worth it.
Restaurant: New girl back in town! Elisa and her partner just took over. Stop by, enjoy the space for casual as for elegant breakfast, lunch or dinner. Or just a few drinks in the cosy courtyard. Try the pudding and tomato tartin for breakfast. Yamyam! Say hi from Jan. :)
Service: We had a bit of a shaky start, also described by some former commentors. The new app did not work well, but I am sure they are fixing this soon. Too annoying for all involved. Sofia reacted right away and we got out room in no time. Unfortunately, a smaller inconvinience forced us to change the room, to no ones fault. The team rearranged us right away in one of the other rooms and as this had no tub, let us use the one in the initial room. We didn‘t do that in the end but could have and as we further got a discount due to the smaller room AND a cute cocktail in the room for us, we have absolutly no hard feelings about it. Stuff can happen, that is why you travel. The question is how people react to it, and and the Audo team prooves to be up for the job. Finally: We used the Audo bikes for free, which is super nice and even more expensive hotels in CPH make you pay for these. Service on point.
Location: Yes, it is not in city center. But thank god. You get to see a side of Kobenhavn that you would miss out on! It‘s vibrant, young, trendy, diverse and rich contemporary architecture and a way of living and working that I have experienced only in very few places as such. Jump in.
The shop: Well, it is what it is. There a some beauties to be found, if it actually pays off for all, I am not certain. I do disagree with the comment about design copies though! Do your homework. Either it is actual licensed, original designes, or contemporary takes on traditional Danish design. Its pricy, if you can‘t appreciate the work, go to Ikea. I really do not understand the space upstairs as it is neither usable by guests as a working space on demand (how nice would that be) nor just a showroom. Make up your mind about that please. It‘s too good of a space to have stupid people like me wondering wether I should take photos for my non-existant insta or call for someone to sell me a sofa. I did not feel like sitting down for a conference-call for sure.
Will come again in a year, looking forward to see how you ladies turned it...
Read moreI appreciated the design of the room and high-quality local furniture and furnishings. It was quiet, restful, and a pleasant respite to return to at the end of a full day. The lobby and common spaces are stunning, and a nice perk to include the use of bicycles. The bed and linens were extremely comfortable, and the design of the bathroom is quite pleasant.
I was expecting a higher quality breakfast (especially for this brand and for CPH), and was surprised that we needed to select b/w juice (which wasn't fresh) or coffee/tea. Unusual, especially for a property so steeped in design and image. The bathroom wasn't fully clean (deep cleaning & the sink is showing lots of mold and bacteria) and I was surprised there wasn't much open space for storing toiletries, or simple nice-to-haves like tissues or a formal toiletries kit with a shower cap, or slippers. Given it's winter, and again, the caliber of the brand, I expected to see a shoe horn and perhaps floor heating. Herbal tea would be nice, as well as a non-dairy milk option (it is 2023 after all, and most coffee shops in CPH these days have non-dairy milk). A savory snack in addition to or in place of the chocolate would also be welcome. Or no snack at all (chocolate doesn't pair well with alcohol IMHO). The team was nonresponsive on chat (and email), which was frustrating when I had a time-sensitive question prior to checkout. The showerhead itself was showing wear, as it sprays in awkward angles, making the middle floor wet. Lastly, it would be helpful to have the side door code either printed on the key, or voiced upon check-in. I was told I'd need to use it after hours, but not provided the code upon check-in. The cafe staff could benefit from more training. It would be helpful to receive notes upon reservation confirmation of where to find the checkin desk, as toting one's suitcase through the cafe feels a bit off-brand (surprised that there isn't an elevator closer to the check-in counter, or that the staff doesn’t offer to take your bag to your room). All in all, based on the quality of the room & facilities I will be back, but I really had higher hopes for the actual guest experience given the brand and all that's gone into...
Read moreInterior design is great and rooms quite clean, apart from old facilities in bathroom such as rancid and expired body lotion with a strange milky texture and odd "off" smell. But coffee machine worked fine and soft drinks are included in the minibar. Metro station close by, in otherwise "off" industrial area still under construction.|Everything is to be purchased in the shop. The commercial side is clearly the main reason for the The Audo to exist; as a prolonged show room. Common library never open during our stay. Neither restaurant. |We managed to get in through a side door with a code at around 21.30. On the web site, owners are keen to point out that guest are "responsible for their own stay" - in our eyes an odd view of customers. |(A welcoming attitude and service is normally also on the providers side in hospitality, if repeat guest are desired. Of course, everyone is then responsible for own behavior, but that also includes owners&staff.)|Sewer smell in the elevator. |Unfortunately, all common facilities seemed to be closed during our stay, including the shop where we were supposed to purchase all Scandic brands in house. |Service is close to zero, especially the staff in the coffee shop. They were honestly rude, even if we were the only visitors before the coffee shop opened. |At breakfast, you may choose two items; 1 oz plain yoghurt with grains or old rye bread from the day before. Or fruit salad consisting of one imported green apple cut in pieces. Either a small coffee OR a glass of unspecified juice, clearly not fresh. |Staff didn't notice us leaving. No wonder since they looked away deliberately, despite our departure/goodbye and bags. Perhaps we didn't fit in to the desired design of The Audo. We are fine with that, knowing there are so many other, real high level boutique hotels in Copenhagen with a warm welcome to...
