A great looking cafe/restaurant, cosy and dark with candles on tables. As seems unfortunately common in Copenhagen, service appears to be optional - I mean getting any...luckily, there was a buffet on the bar so to avoid starvation I grabbed some cold meats, bread and cheese on a plate and took a seat at an empty table (there were also interesting looking hot options on the blackboard above the bar - Brunch, Omelet, Risotto - but I'm only here for 3 days and the wait could be longer than that...) Grabbing an opportune moment I managed to get a latte ordered which needed only one confirmation that this was the singular item I had requested for the sole staff member behind the bar to arrange it's delivery. It was weak and watery... No menus on tables, no menus offered at the bar (well no service even offered at the bar...) and no prices next to the meal descriptions on the board above the bar - one doesn't expect to be necessarily greeted with open arms like a long-lost friend but some sort of welcome or interest in taking my money is generally part of the customer/service experience, isn't it? As with many places here, there is free wi-fi, not even needing a code which is a handy plus. So, some very average cheese and ham with the bread I sliced myself...I could have done this at home but the ambience here with the lighting and layout was at least cosy. It barely gets 3 stars but with a smile and a hello, perhaps more than one staff and what constitutes a welcome, could get four but now is closer to two starts. There are tables outside with fur rugs to warm you while you wait...luckily...(see my review of Pixies next door! MUCH better, go...
Read moreWe sat for 30 minutes before being acknowledged, and even after going inside to ask whether someone would serve us they said: "Yeah don't worry, one of us will be out any minute now".
15 minutes later someone came and gave us a menu that was soaked in drinks. Then we ordered an Espresso Martini and a Mojito. The drinks came relatively fast, about 5 minutes later.
The Espresso Martini was poorly made, but it wasn't something you'd be shocked about coming from a Danish café. The Mojito on the other hand, was dreadful. The ice was nearly completely melted by the time it arrived, and the drink itself tasted like a glass of water with a small leaf of mint inside.
Scandinavia is known for some of the worst restaurant service around the world, but this was the first time in 5 years of living here that I actually got to experience it to such an extent.
All in all, with a 45 minute wait time, and two poorly executed cocktails, we paid around 180kr, and left.
It could have even been a 1-2 hour wait time, and I would not mind, but having so many waiters walk past us and ignore us for 30 minutes without acknowledging us or even warning us "that it might be busy today", is pathetic for...
Read morePoor service, often stuck waiting more than 30-40 minutes. Food used to be pretty good but lately everything my family orders has been burnt or overcooked in some way. A lot of the time well get the wrong order and when trying to order a Croque Madame this morning we were told that it wasn't even possible. The fries/chips that came with the burgers used to be amazing, even worth the wait, but this morning they were burnt and very disappointing. The second-last time my family went it took close to an hour for our food to arrive because it was was entirely forgotten about. The interior of the cafe is also quite run down and...
