I went there some days ago. The attention was excellent; the whole staff was really charming and attentive. On the other hand, the menu has many problems. I think it's a little pretentious. As a starter, we had trout whose flavor was hidden behind the sauce it came with. "Ok, no problem, it happens," I said to myself, but the main courses were still unpleasant. The scallops with Japanese pickles and some overcooked kale had incorrect textures. I still don't understand why all of this was put together, and the kale was way too oily, leaving a tacky taste in my mouth. The lamb dish was similarly overwhelming. The meat was of good quality but the cooking was disastrous. It was swimming in a bowl of its own (non-reduced) juice and came with some flatbread with toppings that didn't complement the rest of the dish. Again, the kale had problems. By that point, I wasn't excited, but okay. The final straw was the dessert: hazelnut ice cream, baked hazelnuts, a rhubarb granita, and something else I can't recall. Firstly, the texture combination was terribleāgranita with ice cream, need I say more? Secondly, the hazelnuts' crunchiness was the first of the meal, and their flavor was so intense that you couldn't taste anything else. They recommended eating everything together, but it was chaotic. The intentions are good, but there's no technique or pairing consciousness behind the dishes. And it's really expensive. I'm sorry to give such a bad review; the average rating should have been 3, but I assumed giving only one star would balance the restaurant's 4.9 rating to make it fair. This is just a reminder that you have a lot of room for growth, and I hope to try your dishes again sometime and see improvement, aesthetics are ok, but taste is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLast night was my last night before heading back to home after traveling 39 days in Europe for an half holiday and half work. Normally I like to find a nice restaurant to celebrate before going home as it is my small ceremony. and found this amazing restaurant. My amazing journey in the Pauli starting from two fresh and delicious starter-oysters. The oysters were really tasty with small green onions and soy sauce to keep the fresh flavor, follow up by the cod, butter sauce, seaweed, flatbread as the main. I was so surprised the fish could be so well cooked, and the butter sauce was perfectly matched with the fish and the flatbreads. I cannot stop eating until cleaning my plate. Although I was full, but I cannot help to order their signature dessert-Lime curd, matcha crumble, meringue, kumquat, Kaffir lime, bergamot & kaffir lime, leaf granita. The dessert was again amazed me. It was sour and sweet with fresh, local Danish strawberries. The sweet and sour taste is like the feeling of first love. I love it.
I was lucky to talk to the head chef, and he said that the idea of his food are the combination of a lot of Asian cuisines like Japanese and Korean, but mix with danish style. I have to say, his food was a beautiful art, and, when you put them in the mouth, It's like performing a spiritual symphony, and provide the comfort for traveler like me.
Highly recommend to people who like to try delicious food, Pauli is definitely the pocket list you cannot miss...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited in June 2025. We had the tasting menu "hav og land", plus oysters and a starter that was a daily special. The food was tasty and more than enough. The diy sashimi wrap and the lamb main course were both really good. The dessert was sour and delicious, but quite difficult to eat - I'd very much recommend a different plating for it. Overall, the food quality was well cooked and made with high quality ingredients - except the herbs, which were not the nicest, despite being taken directly from pots kept on site. Service was both friendly and professional. We had an early booking and everything went perfectly in the beginning, but both the service and the food pacing slowed down once the place started to get more customers. The place looks nice, but the tables are quite small. The drinks selection is nice and covers both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. Overall, I'd be happy to come back, and I can recommend the place for anyone who would like to try...
