Sufra — Restaurant in Copenhagen Municipality

This is now my favorite restaurant. I plan on bringing friends and family I want to pamper and impress with culinary delights.

As many mention, the owner is friendly and personable. He is genuinely interested in the food that is made and has his own versions of them. Speaking at length on the process and ingredients when asked. Making me feel both impressed and inspired.

The pictures below should show you the quality and quantities of the selections we decided on.

We ordered a bit more than recommended for 2 people and though full towards the end of our meal, we ended up emptying all our plates. Even going as far as wiping the plates and bowls clean with our flatbread, for just one more delightful taste of the culinary poetry. A symphony of deliciousness that we composed ourselves, by first tasting every part by itself, and then proceeding to test every and all combinations we could come up with.

Something which turned into a wonderful game in an attempt to find new and wondrous ways to spark sensory joy. Some dishes were subtle whispers and others were fireworks of sensation. But they went well together.

For a adventure for the senses; Sufra is the place to go. Be it sight, smell, taste or the combined ambiance.

If you need the culinary delights delivered, it is possible to order online from different food delivery services. Though I recommend calling the restaurant personally and picking up the order yourself if possible. Cutting out the middleman and leaving the restaurant with a full share of the transaction. Ensuring it stays open and running. OR you could reward yourself by experiencing the delights on location as I did. We (family of 5) decided to give this place a try based on its high ratings but had one of the worst dining experience till this date. We arrived at 18:45 at ordered our food 10-15 minutes later. After 40 minutes, we had not received anything (not even drinks or appetizers). It was first until a waitress came and noticed it and passed us the drinks we had ordered. When one hour passed, we had still not received our food. Throughout our waiting, the waiters was constantly passing our table and ignored us, acted like nothing. We tried reaching out to them but they were purposely avoiding us and when we asked when is the food ready they would reply "5 minutes" and quickly walk away. At no point any employee came to us and told us about the situation or our food was delayed. After 1 hour and 20 minutes, we got our food. To put it lightly we were extremely disappointed. The rice was cold and the portion sizes were small.

The only good part about our experience is that the blond-waitress at the counter was polite and apologised for the experience. She reduced our order to compensate for it...

Delicious and beautifully presented food with great service!

My partner and I passed by to check their vegan options and they definitely delivered! We ordered several meals because we were curious and we were pleasantly surprised. Both servers came to us with a smile.

The food we ordered were presented well and are full of taste. I recommend the falafel, chilli hummus, and musaka for all. The menu is clearly marked for which dish is vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free. (I would suggest triple checking whether this is good for celiacs because I don’t know if they have separate workspaces/fryers to avoid contamination)

What we appreciated most was that they were willing to help us give others in the restaurant a smile. There were two people with birthdays and my partner and i wanted to give them a dish as part of a present. The server added to the situation by giving us a danish flag and let me serve the celebrants the gift!

I hope that one day they will make an awesome vegan grill menu option and maybe a tray full of tasters so that we can try many foods at once!
