We booked a table at 9 pm on Saturday expecting to be able to try what is reported as the best pizza in CPH. We arrive at 8.35 and were able to get seated early by 8.40. We ordered the grilled artichoke appetizer and a margherita pizza to share. To our dismay, AFTER receiving our appetizer (which was very good!) and during us eating it (not even 20 mins after we arrived) they let us know that they did not have enough pizza dough to serve us pizza and offered us a Sicilian slice instead. We chose not to take it as we had travelled almost 1.5 hrs to try their Neapolitan pizza, and at that point we were disappointed to know that we were unable to try it as it was already a late 9 pm dinner and we were really looking forward to it the entire day. When stating that we would rather leave and come back another time, the waiter offered dessert which we also said no to.
After foregoing the other pizza choice we asked for our cheque which also took abt 15mins to be given to us, we were once again asked if we were sure we would not like to try the other one to which we again said no, and then we were offered the pizza on the house. We still rejected it as we honestly felt at that point they were trying to appease us and initially I did not want to leave a review but after being offered the pizza on the house (after we said no 2-3 times) we felt like they were just trying to make sure they did not get a bad review, which felt unprofessional.
While they offered pizza on the house, they only took 1 wine off the bill (we ordered 1 wine, 1 beer and 1 appetizer), which was confusing because then you could’ve just taken our appetizer off the bill.
Perhaps next time if you can’t serve it, turn tables away…and I can’t imagine if we had arrived at 9 when we actually reserved then would they have just let us order appetizers, drinks while knowing that they had no pizza dough left..we just felt a little icky and taken advantage of to be honest just to avoid a bad review; and this is very disappointing considering the amount of good reviews and hype...
Read moreI'll be blunt! I came here today with Very very high expectations based on the reviews and the things that I've heard about this place and I probably should have kept my enthusiasm to a much lower level. I enjoyed the dough of the pizza and the ingredients but when put together to form pizza, they just didn't make me or my friends feel that It was above all pizza places in Copenhagen. It felt just good, but not 225dkk good but more like 120dkk good. I felt the staff tried their best to deliver an awesome experience and I felt that from everybody on the team that I've talked to but sadly it just didn't feel that it raised to the level of it's prices and it's astronomical hype. There was a full restaurant and it's most likely full all of the time in the evening.
The problems are as follows. Margherita had almost no basil on it and the tomato sauce while tasty it was too watery. The dough while very tasty and with great texture, was burnt on the sides to a degree where it came very close to fall into burnt pizza dough category. So I will call it almost burnt. ( I happen to be one of those people that do enjoy black charred spots on the pizza but I know other people would be put off by this level of charring.) The Hindsholm pizza was an interesting recipe,it looked awesome but that fermented chilly oil was an unfortunate unexpected surprise taste that didn't work for me. It made the pizza taste excessively sour to a degree where sourness was vastly overpowering any other taste. If.I had known the fermented chilly oil is an overpowering sour sauce, I would have definitely went for a different pizza. The red wine was great the service was great and the atmosphere was also awesome. Were they bad pizzas? No. Were they above the competition or deserve 200+...
Read moreSURT takes 13th place in the list of 50toppizza.it in 2024, so our group went there with high expectations. I am however a bit disappointed by the visit.
The menu options were quite limited, with only 5 (predominantly cheesy) pizzas aside from the margherita and marinara. They all seemed to be carefully-selected though, with local Sicilian ingredients I had never even heard about. So I will not count availability as a negative point, as I am sure you will find something to your liking.
I took the Hindsholm with pork sausage, buffalo mozzarella, parmigiano cheese, agretti and fermented chili oil. The Neapolitan sourdough was amazingly soft and light, yet still crunchy. The subtle spiciness of the chili gave a nice touch. But: three out of five pizzas of our group had large burnt spots (too much to be acceptable). If you pay the stellar amount of 235 DKK (31.50 EUR) for a pizza, I would expect it to be properly cooked. The home made kombucha with strawberry, lime and elderflower was awful (all four group members who ordered it shared the same opinion).
I had the impression that SURT is a food sharing concept, where groups order pizzas for the table and share them on small plates. Because of this, they are often served with some time in between. When taking our order, our group explicitly told the staff we did not intend to share and all ordered our own pizza. Still, they were served with 10 minutes apart. Out of courtesy, we only started eating as soon as everybody was served, and the first pizza had turned completely cold. If you ask me, this is not acceptable and impolite. Other than that, the service was friendly and personal (the head chef visits every table to have an...
