Amazing experience! Me and my girlfriend went here in February 2020. We asked them to have our food made vegan, and one of them also gluten free, something they happily accommodated.
Upon arrival you're greeted with a nice smile and are asked to take a seat in the lounge for some snacks (4 or 5, can't remember). You are also asked what you would like to drink to the snacks, and also for the dinner. To the snacks you have the option to drink for example champagne, drink of the night (alcohol free alternative is available), wine etc. To the dinner you have the options of either wine pairing or juice pairing. You can also chose one glass of wine or juice, or a whole bottle of wine (or of course water if you're not interested in the pairings).
The snacks arrived in a rapid pace, but did not feel rushed what so ever. They are also presented in a lovely, inspirational and new-thinking way. It is very noticeable that the chefs are playing with their creativity then creating the menus. The same goes for the dinner - the servings were all presented in a very pleasant and creative way, and the staff is very nice and helpful if you have any questions.
The amount of truffle used in many of the dishes made us weep a bit out of joy, and the flavors were spot on it most dishes (some could have had a tad more flavor but everything was still tasty). The only thing we really did not enjoy as much was the dessert. Don't get me wrong, they tasted very good, but they were not very creative. First we got a coconut ice cream, and then we got a mango sorbet. To end such a creative dinner with kinda basic desserts was a bit disappointing.
We were a bit nervous that since we asked to get a vegan menu they would just remove all animal products from the "normal" dishes. However, we happily discovered that this was not the case. Instead of cheese they used either vegan cheese or made their own cheese based on for example cashews or other nuts. They also made meringues with chickpea water instead of eggs. I've seen some reviews stating that this place is not worth it if you ask for the vegan menu, but I do not agree at all. We did not feel that anything was left out due to the fact that we ate vegan. The only thing that was changed a bit was the gluten free dishes (for example I got a tempura fried flower whereas my girlfriend who ate gluten free got more of the gluten free options).
And yes, it is pricey, but it is totally worth it for this kind of creative and...
Read moreWe held one of our family dinners at Veve just after the corona lock down had been lifted. Great experience, the staff was very attentive and seemed to really know their stuff, especially the girl who served our wine, I dont know if shes a full fledged sommellier or not but she did great. The food was of course very well prepared, no surprises there. Veve does as kinkin and creates these fresh, quirky, and delicious little dishes where each bite is an explosion of weird tastes and cool textures (shout out to that fennel salad with star anise sorbet, yum). The flavour profile is mainly SE asian which imo works great in fine dining. In a few of the dishes they tried to imitate the experience of a meat dish which i think is a shame but it worked out in the end and they didnt over do it. The wine menu was truly great, im not a much of a wine guy but the presentation, the flow, and the food pairings really introduced some new concepts in wine to me, good job. My only negatives are a) the cocktail i was served as a starter (some elder-flower concoction), it wasnt bad mind you, but it was a safe and uninteresting crowd pleaser. I look forward to the day copenhagen restaurants starts taking cocktails seriously. b) many of the wine glasses werent polished... I assume its because you hadnt quite gotten your bearings since the reopening, but come on, at this level i expect better and i know you can do better 1200dkk/pers for 13 (or was it 15?) courses with an accompanying wine menu in copenhagen is a pretty good price and at the top of my head i cant think of any other place where you get this level of attentiveness and creativity for that price, so good job. I give 5 stars, we had a great...
Read moreWe visited here mid October to celebrate a special occasion. Unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences we have had.
Service in the restaurant was disorganised and confused. The waiting staff were quite rude and made us feel extremely uncomfortable. They clearly did not care about the food or dining experience and were rushing the dishes out without explanation or information.
The working environment seemed quite toxic. We were sat next the the kitchen and we could hear the staff repeatedly swearing at each other and talking about other guests. This seemed to be led by the manager/head waitress who made us feel particularly unwelcome and like a burden.
The food itself was ok but not memorable and was overshadowed by the bad customer service. After spending around 250 € for the tasting menu and a couple of beers for two people, nobody bothered to thank us or say goodbye after paying, and we left feeling like we'd wasted our money and time. We were visiting Copenhagen for a short time, and had a choice of amazing, passionate restaurants we could have given our custom instead.
We did pass on a detailed review to the restaurant to highlight our experience, but they didn't respond. A restaurant that doesn't care about the customers and doesn't hold up...
