This place is a true gem at the heart of Odense.

First off, the location is Smack dab in the center of one of the oldest streets in the city. The building itself displays and honors its ancestry and age with style. When you get inside, it continues to showcase the age of the building in a tasteful and homely manner. With walls of antiques and old photographs and proudly showing the materials a 400 year old building is made of, it feels like traveling back in time all while having the facilities and comforts of a modern inn and restaurent.

The food itself is a love affair with the traditional Danish cuisine. The food is delicious, well cooked and the staff is ever friendly, smiling and helpful. Whether you want a piece of pork cooked to tender perfection, fish or a juicy steak, you can enjoy it all with fresh vegetables, sauces and finish off with a brandy and flaming pancakes with local ice cream.

My fiancé and I only had (unfortunately) one night in Odense. We both wanted to eat in a place that for us was typically Danish. After searching the internet up and down, we found this lovely place. The old inn. An old, charming restaurant in the middle of Odense. As we entered, we went straight back to the year 1683. I don't think it looked exactly the same then as it does now, and I assume that something has been done in all those years. But one thing is for sure - it is amazingly beautiful there and we will definitely come back because this restaurant is worth coming back to. My immediate thought was that I want to bring my mother and mother-in-law here. Think they would have loved it as much as we did. All in all I have to say we will definitely be back. Rustic looking place - in all the best ways. It lures you in with its old townhouse style, and sits you down in its restaurant with its amazing interior decorations in the same style. And then there's the food and the service.

You wouldn't expect such fine and refined dining in such a place in such a city - it will blow your mind in variety, quality and presentation. We had pork tenderloin with fresh market vegetables, a fish and seafood platter, and afterwards a tea carousel with different house blends to just relax and try our way through different variants - every single ingredient served a purpose and added flavour to the dishes.
