Milling Hotel Windsor — Hotel in Odense Kommune

After an exhausting few days in Copenhagen and Malmo a couple of days in Odense was much needed. Found Hotel WIndsor on booking. com and since it was near the train station my friend and I decided to give it a try. The front desk staff was excellent. They were always so helpful and polite. I appreciated the classic traditional quaint atmosphere. It was lovely to sit in the library and the dining area was spacious. There's a self serve coffee machine which produces very good cappucino and hot cocoa as well as other hot drinks. The authentic Danish breakfast buffet is bountiful and very good. In the evening there's some snacks available for guests which I especially appreciated shortly after check in on a Saturday evening. The location is excellent; close to attractions, museums, restaurants, shops and even the Odense Zoo is only a half hour walk. Odense is Hans Christian Andersen's childhood home so the town pays much tribute to this oustanding writer. Prices could be a bit lower for off season but the comforts were so much appreciated. We spent in the hotel 3 nights. |First all the pluses: |The prices are really good, 380€ for 3 nights with breakfast for 4 people (2 adults, 2 children). |The location is great - 10 min walk to the city centre. |The staff is friendly and the hotel offers some nice “goodies”. Free coffee and juices all day long. From 15:00 - 17:00 free cakes and ice cream. |The room was very big, maybe a little old but good. The bed was also comfortable. |The breakfast was good - a lot to choose - warm, cold, everything. ||The minuses: |Parking - the hotel has in the back 6 parking spaces, but if you come a little bit late, you wont get any space. So you have to wait till next day, that others check our ans you can try your luck to get a spot. You can park across the hotel, but the prices are extremely expensive. 1 hour 21 Krons (almost 3€ per hour). ||The bathroom also needs renovation. If you shower, the safety plastic sticks on your body, cause there is not enough space. ||There is also no air conditioning. ||All together - for the price, you get a really good deal! I absolutely cannot recommend a stay at milling hotel windsor, Odense.||Why ?||I had booked 2 single rooms at the hotel. The hotel demanded full price so the rooms had to be okay.||They were far from that.||There was very loud noise from a renovation (in the hotel - on a Saturday). When we pointed this out at the reception, there was nothing but confirmation that it was correct (there was noise) and that they couldn't do anything about it.||There was no information about this before booking the rooms.||Could we get other rooms or compensation? No!||The rooms were also very small, very old and the bathrooms were characterized by poor renovation and cleaning.||The power switches did not work if you used the extension cords that were already in the switches.||If you still choose to book a single room here, be careful of the step from the bathroom. It's uncomfortably loud!||All in all: a bad experience.||And it's a shame, as I've otherwise been to other of Milling's hotels, which have been good experiences.||Do not book rooms here.||It's like throwing money down an...
