I recently stayed at First Hotel Grand and have mixed feelings about the experience. On the positive side, the dining was truly exceptional—delicious food with attentive service. The hotel lobby was also a standout, offering a warm and welcoming ambiance that gave the impression of a high-standard establishment.
Unfortunately, the quality significantly dropped when I entered the most important part of any hotel stay—the room. For a hotel with a 4-star rating and such a reputable name, I expected better. The shower head was moldy and leaking, which was both unpleasant and unacceptable. The curtain in the room emitted an unpleasant smell, making the space feel old, neglected, and forgotten. If the intention was to create a vintage or aged theme, it should at least have been maintained and cleaned to a reasonable standard.
There were no drinking amenities in the room, such as a kettle or coffee maker, which would have been a basic expectation for a hotel of this level. However, the views in the morning were a redeeming feature—the sunrise was absolutely breathtaking and provided a moment of peace amidst the disappointments.
Overall, the hotel has potential, but the state of the rooms needs serious improvement to match the quality of the public spaces and dining experience. Until then, I’d hesitate to...

While the property dates back to 19th century and a historic jewel of the town, you don't feel the age as they have done a fabulous job of fitting it with the finest luxury elements and upgrading it regularly. Though we paid a hefty price for the stay, it was probably the best choice near old town

DINE + DRINK: Decent restaurant that served a good breakfast with a fine selection of food.

FACILITIES: A very decent Gym with a basic range of weights and Cardio machines(Some of them a bit dated though)
SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of.
HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high-speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Big Plasma TV screen dishing out dozens of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and a wide variety of entertainment in...
Read moreExcellent hotel. Breakfast is excellent and includes the best bacon you'll eat. There are soft and hard and soft boiled eggs, coffees of all kinds, breads of all kinds and a large selection of cheeses, veg, salad, cucumber etc. I left quite a bit of time for breakfast most mornings. We had dinner before 6.30 pm on Sunday and got a 30% discount on the bill. There was beef tartar and they made me full-fat mayo and customised my high-fat dinner. The room was a superior double which was functional down to a t and comfortably large for a several day stay. The gym was smallish but full equipped with free-weights which I unfortunately didn't get a chance to use properly. The reception, bar and restaurant staff were very professional and kind. They ordered us taxis every morning. The coffee machine in our room did get stuck with a coffee capsule for a couple of days and wasn't fixed but I guess we should've told reception about it. The room key cards kept on demagnetising which was a pain as we had to go and queue to get them re-magnetised but this was the only "real" problem I faced. Overall I really enjoyed this stay and would highly recommend this hotel way over the Radisson where I stayed on a...
