I booked 2 nights in this hotel, through its website, around 1 month before my visit to Odense. I booked a standard room at a flexible rate. I gave, as usually in similar circumstances, my credit card details, to secure the reservation. The first sign that they are not a welcoming and reliable hotel was the fact that they charged my card the whole stay immediatly after I booked. This was strange as in the website - and given the fact that ot was a flexible rate - it was stated that the credit card was just to secure the reservation. A few days before our arrival, I received 4 or 5 emails saying that the room we have booked is small (11m2) and if we like they could upgrade us to a bigger room, that will cost us an extra 200 Danish kr each night. Again I found it strange, especially that they sent a lot of emails with that information and that in many other hotels they would upgrade you for free, if they want, no? The day we arrived, they ask us again if we would like an upgrade. We said no. Then they asked us for a 500 Dk kr as a 'deposit'. A 'deposit' for what? (I asked)... 'in case you eat or drink something...' We said that in that case we will pay (of course). They insisted on the 'deposit'. I got a bit upset because I found it unacceptable. I travel a lot to different countries and cities and I cannot remember to leave a deposit in a hotel... So, I continued to complain and finally one of the extremely arrogant employees at the reception told me that the deposit will be to cover expenses in case we steal something (???). This was really unacceptable. How can a hotel, that is suppose to welcome guest, have - as principle - that the guests are thieves??? The lady 'explained' that this is a common thing in hotels in DK. Which is obviously not true. We were in Copenhagen before coming to Odense and no 'deposit' was asked. Furthermore, if this procedure is so common in DK, maybe they should saying this at the Hotel website. Afterwards the whole conversation with the receptionist was surreal. She was really arrogant and not prepared to deal with guests, particularly when they are upset and asking for an explanation. I asked to get refunded (which they did...) and this was the only good thing about this hotel, to leave pi. We found a big and bright room at a wonderful hotel in Odense (first hotel grand) with a wonderful breakfast and, guess what? No 'deposit' was asked or even mentioned at the check in (obviously this is not a common thing in DK, contrary to what the receptionist in Hotel Odeon told us). So%, the conclusion is that Odeon is not a serious, honest and welcoming hotel. There are much better hotels in Odense! This hotel Odeon is just a sad place that does not trust and value guests. So, I do not recommend...
Read moreI have been staying at Odeon Hotel for 3 days now and I still have to stay for 2 more nights due to a business trip. Since it is prepaid I can not change the hotel but if it is not I would immediately change it. First of all rooms are too small and there is even no wardrobes in the rooms. You cannot adjust the air conditioner in the room to the temperature you want because the system is working centralized and the reception says they cannot help with this. The location of the hotel is fine, but since there is a train station right next to it, unfortunately the rooms are noisy until late night hours. This is all acceptable but I don't think there is anything that excuses the rudeness of the restaurant staff. The first evening I arrived at the hotel, I wanted to eat at the restaurant, and although I waited for about 10-15 minutes, no one took my order. The restaurant employee did not even greet me, even though she passed by the table where I was sitting several times. After a while, she came to me and said that she was very busy and that I should wait another half hour to order because she could not reduce the quality of service she would provide to other guests. That evening, although I was very tired, I had dinner at a restaurant outside the hotel. I went to the restaurant again this evening and again, the same staff member came to me and showed me the “please wait to be seated sign” at the entrance, even though there was only one table in the restaurant before me. I didn't see the sign because there were other things in front of it and it wasn't visible properly. This time I got really angry and left the restaurant. I guess they don't feel obligated to be polite enough to non-Danish customers. But I would like to remind you that this is a hotel and the people who stay in the hotel stay there because they do not have a home there, in short, they are not from there. I told the other employee at the restaurant that I wanted to leave a customer satisfaction feedback, he said I could do it when I was leaving the hotel, but I think that was also a mistake and so I decided it would be better to put this on...
Read moreToo much logistic problem for that they loose 3 stars... -It is currently 1:15am and the hotel is hosting a private party and concert...music is blasting (been that way since 10pm), windows vibrate and i cannot sleep...they didn't thought of informing other customers about it...just waiting for the music to stop...and not much i can do about it (told reception and apparently they can't do anything)...it's not coming from a noisy neighbor but the HOTEL ITSELF...
-lots of trouble during booking. We booked online a room and when we arrived where told it wasn't available. happened a second time when we wanted to add a night and booked it online, we where told that the website ehere we booked the room eas wrong and if we tried booking on the actual website it wouldn't be there (checked the website it was there) -- make sure to sell the right amount of room in the future) -when we finally got a room there was supposed to be a double bed and a couch that transformes into another double bed. The staff there told us it wasn't true and should have booked a room with twins bed if that is what we wanted (no, we wanted two double bed and a large room) so they set up a stiff kids bed instead (had my feet hanging out of it the whole night)... turns out they just didnt know how the couch worked and the morning staff did turned the couch into a double bed for the next night... still had to go through a night on that terrible kids bed...
-the waiters where really really great but we spend 2h30 at the restaurant for a mini steak tartar and chicken...wayyy to slow.
On the good side: Well, the staff in really nice and helpfull. Decoration is pure scandinavian and is really beautiful, food is good, breakfast is nice, rooms are nice. I would have given 5 stars if we didnt have so much problem EVERY SINGLE DAY we spend here and we are almost...
