Las Olas — Restaurant in Higüey

Sat right next to the ocean, this is a lovely spot to grab lunch especially considering it's often open at a time of day when a lot of other restaurants on property aren't. The bartenders are so welcoming and genuinely look and feel like they enjoy what they do and enjoy working together. There's tons of activities to do here, and our favorite was definitely the Paella cooking demonstration (with Sangria too!). Learning how to cook this meal was so fun, as well as it being one of the most delicious meals we ate on property, it was so fresh and so good! Highly recommend that experience. On our last day, while attending our second Paella demonstration, we got caught in a thunderstorm and pouring rain and the staff did so much to keep people's spirits high, keep us dry, and take care of us. The best meal so far (day 3) at Excellence El Carmen. Chefs Amado and Pedro cooked us an amazing Dominican meal - fried chicken, grilled beef with onions, beans and plantains.
