Santa Mulata Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Higüey

We dined at this restaurant with a group and everyone had a different opinion of their meal and experience. First off, our server was sweet and presented herself well. She recommended appetizers which were good EXCEPT for the one she recommended above the others --- the grilled octopus. It was cold, over cooked and very chewy. No one liked it. Second, the main dishes were mixed as well. The salmon and steaks were good, not great. The pork chop was overcooked and dry. But the coup de grâce was the ceviche. It smelled awful and fishy and we sent it back. The server had the audacity to come back and tell is the chef said it was fine even though it was inedible. The customer should be right...right? We wish we could give this restaurant 5 stars but the food was inconsistent and should have been better for the price and location. Sadly we won't be back anytime soon. I’m still here, waiting for my dessert — but I couldn’t wait any longer to write this amazing review! This restaurant is everything you’re hoping for and more. The atmosphere is beautiful, the service is outstanding, and the food… absolutely incredible.

It’s not your typical meal — it’s a fusion of flavors that truly surprised me in the best way possible. Every dish is crafted with creativity and care. I 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Punta Cana.

Came here after seeing it was the highest rated restaurant downtown. Food was great! We had the mixed meat platter and everything was fantastic. Strong drinks, I recommend the quimbara. Also, big shout out to Hector. He was probably the nicest server we have had in our week in Punta Cana. He was very attentive, super friendly, and even spoke English! Would come back again just to see Hector. Ciao para...
