BAMBINO'S GRILL GAZCUE — Restaurant in Santo Domingo

Had a meal at Bambino’s Gaszcue this afternoon. I had the mixed grill plate and a baked potato as a side. The other individual had baked salmon and a side of veggies (eggplant and roasted peppers)

The food came and there was quite a bit of meat on the plate . However, the chicken was so dry you couldn’t cut it. The rest of the meat was also a bit dry . I think it was obviously precooked and then left on the grill to keep warm for a long time. The ribs were the tastiest. My baked potato was hard and undercooked.

My partner’s salmon was also dry and lukewarm. I think it was warmed up on the grill for a few minutes and by the time it made the trip to our table, no longer warm. The grilled eggplant was the best but again lukewarm.

When it came to the service, not sure if it’s because they automatically add a 10% tip on the bill, but just disinterested. Took the order and felt we were bothering him. Brought the drinks, then someone else brought out the good later. No one came back to check up , ask for more drinks, etc, Couple of staff on the phone, finally had to stop one of staff going to the bathroom to get the bill.

Back again after 3 months , I stumbled on the restaurant by mistake this time, didn’t recognise it at first as I entered from the main road instead of the side carpark. I had the same steak with roasted vedg and the meal was perfect. I have nothing else to add except you must try this place, if you are a meat lover.

Excellent business lunch yesterday in Bambino’s grill, staff very attentive and lots of seating inside and out, all the meats are in a big display cabinet, I had a medium rare Flap meat steak (what ever that is) but was cooked exactly as I like it , and very tasty I didn’t leave anything, steaks came with grilled vedg I washed it down with 3 excellent coffees as I was driving, they had a great selection of beers. There is a carpark at the side holds about 13 cars and we got parked easily. We walked in about 6:15 and had no problem getting a seat. We ordered the grilled meat for two and really enjoyed it. With the basic grill platter you each get a choice of sides and he had the potatoes and I had the grilled vegetables.

The potatoes were dry and not that good but the vegetables (pepper, eggplant, squash, onions) were really good and the sauce they serve with the whole thing is really, really good. The pico de gallo not so much, but the other is a big yes. Of the grilled meats the sausages were good, love the pork and chicken breast, the ribs aren't really my thing but they weren't bad.

They serve garlic bread which is good as well. The atmosphere is nice and the wait staff are friendly. Parking in back was easy and the whole place, overall, was nice.
