I recently dined at Trattoria Angiolino and was pleasantly surprised by the delicious food and great service. For appetizers, I ordered the Fried Calamari and the "Mozzarella Rain" dish which were both fantastic. The calamari was perfectly fried and not greasy at all, and the mozzarella dish was a unique take on traditional mozzarella sticks.

For the main course, I tried the Penne burrata e tartufo and the Fettuccini, bacon & shrimp gratin. Both dishes were incredibly flavorful and well-prepared. The penne had a creamy sauce and a delicious truffle flavor, and the fettuccini dish was rich and indulgent.

The only downside was that the restaurant could benefit from increasing their table quantities as it was a bit crowded and hard to move around. I am a gringo from Boston who frequently visits DR to visit my wife’s family, and to be honest I have a very difficult time finding food that I like in the DR. My favorite cuisine by far is Italian, so that is what I miss the most when I am visiting. We discovered Trattoria Angiolino when my sister in law moved to an apartment one street away. It is hands down the best food I have found in the DR, and is better than some Italian places in Boston’s famous north end. I had the burrata appetizer and the spicy shrimp rigatoni in vodka sauce and it was one of the most memorable meals I have had in a long time.
