We had the wonderful experience of staying here at Drumbuie Farm, Drumnadrochit. My husband and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and as avid lovers of Highland coos wanted to stay somewhere we could guarantee seeing them.
The farm had both ginger and black Highland cows and we were able to feed Mac the Highland bull who was not only adorable but a true gentle soul. Our bedroom looked out upon the fields with the cows and we had the most amazing view of the mountains and Loch Ness.
Breakfast was delicious and we were offered several options but we opted for the full cooked breakfast, which kept us going right round past lunchtime.
Our hosts Quita and Paul were so helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. They literally smiled constantly the entire time we were there. We told them to expect us back next year with our children too.
We met two lovely couples who were also staying at the B&B, one from New York City and the other from Australia who were absolutely wonderful.
The scenery was stunning and the air was so clean and fresh and the surroundings were peaceful and we literally slept like babies.
The locals in all the villages we visited were welcoming and friendly and we truly felt at home there. There is lots to see 👀 and do but you will need a car to visit all the stunning places The Highlands...
Read moreMy family and I were finding a place to grab a small bite after touring the castle and then found this little gem. Came with half an hour to spare from closing time and the owners happily let us dine in still. It's a B&B but the tearoom is open for all.
The menu isn't the most diverse but what is there I can tell you now is very yummy and good portioned. I tried the Chocomel too as its claimed to be the best chocolate drink in the world. That claims holds true after I tried it. The sandwiches/toasties came freshly made upon order with sides of coleslaw, crisps and salad. It was a very hearty and well balanced meal indeed. There is tea and scones but we wanted a bigger meal to have as dinner.
The owners were accommodating and chatty as we were the only patrons at the time. The tearoom itself was situated with a great view of the owner's farm and Loch Ness.
There are adorable Highland cattle and sheep grazing around. We were lucky enough to have not just one, but two rainbows (bright and faint) appear near the Loch!
What a view to finish the meal. Overall we enjoyed our time and food and will definitely recommend this family business to others looking for a bite at lochness. It's a newlt opened place as well so do share your own pleasant experiences too which I'm sure you'll have.
Hope to...
Read moreI am a tour guide operator and on 12 May I was taking out two American tourists to visit Skye. Finding highland cattle can be a bit of a challenge so, when passing the sign at Drumbuie farm which said “feed the highland cows and tea room” (or something very similar) I decided to turn in and give my guests the cattle experience. We drive up to the farm and parked up, from the carpark you cannot see the cattle as there is a solid wooden fence. I decided to walk to the front of the house to enquire about the cattle. There was a sign on the door saying the tea room was closed but to ring the bell if you required a room so, I rung the bell…..from inside the property a woman opened a window near the door to speak to me, I asked her if we could visit the cattle and she said no were closed. At this point I stated that she should consider adjusting the sign on the road to inform people that the place was closed……(this is where the experience became strange), the woman then raised her voice just to emphasise what she had just said, at this point a baby started crying in the back ground and, with an angry and voice raised even higher, the woman then stated that I had woken her baby up…she shut the window and disappeared 🤷♂️….myself and the American tourists were very surprised at what had...
