Teatro Eskendria — Restaurant in Alexandria

I used to come here years ago as a teenager and had fond memories of the place. On a recent visit to Egypt, I decided to stop by again and brought along a foreign friend. Unfortunately, what we experienced was incredibly disappointing and frankly, embarrassing.

We had a few books with us because we were doing some light studying, nothing disruptive at all. To our surprise, the staff approached us and said we weren’t allowed to have books because the restaurant “doesn’t have a license for studying.” Yes, you read that right — apparently, you now need a license to read/study quietly in a coffee shop / restaurant. It sounded completely ridiculous and unprofessional.

The way it was handled was even worse. It made me feel unwelcome in a place I once enjoyed, and I was honestly embarrassed trying to explain this absurd excuse to my foreign guest. Terrible treatment to a foreigner or a local.

I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone. It has gone downhill, and the management clearly has no sense of hospitality or basic...

I run an international restaurant, and the meat is already cooked and they just reheat it when you do this with chicken you get salmonella .. cheese with sogo2 tasa comes with 2 tiny bread is not even enough for half of the meal when I request extra bread he wants to charge me extra .. you can't sit inside they do maintenance and when I ask for the wifi password he said it's on maintenance too while I can see the network is online it's bad experience will...

Pros : one of the few places in Alexandria that captures the spirit and the culture in a unique way great food (don't order the veal plate) relatively fast service friendly staff drinks are great also is hookah Cons : value for money always crowded on weekends so you will be on waiting and the worst one yet, it closes on 12 am...
