A friend of mine and our wives went to this restaurant for a snack, shisha and some drinks together with our wives. The location is nice but all considered nothing special compared to other restaurants and bars on the Nile - view is somewhat obstructed by concrete pillars. The food was edible but nothing special. Shisha was OK. So all considered I could give an average review. I consider however that this place deserves one star out of five because we noticed that we were charged an alcoholic cocktail that my friend’s wife definitely did not order. Alcoholic cocktails are shown on a different menu which we were not given at the beginning, so she materially could not have ordered an alcoholic cocktail because they were not on the menu. Once the check arrived, after trying to reason with the waiters we were told by one of them he sweared (!) he put two shots of rum in the cocktail and so we needed to pay for something we definitely did not order. We were not so much annoyed by the price difference but by the fact my friend’s wife had been practically called a liar and we were pressured by two waiters at once to pay for something we did not order. So the staff is zero customer oriented, called us liars and we had to pay the full price for something we did not order. We probably would have give more than the price difference as tip anyway but now the evening was spoiled so we did not feel like tipping. As you can imagine the feeling to be badly treated as customers and as tourists ruined our experience in this place. Shame on you! No way to...
Read moreThe first thing that stands out about the place before you even take your first bite is the atmosphere. Modern decor right on the Nile. Unfortunately I wasn't able to fully enjoy it because the matradee refused to seat my party of 16 on the first row of the river. He claimed that all 4 of the available tables in front of us were reserved. When I suggested he seat only the 7 adults of our party on the water and put the kids on the table behind us that he was going to seat us on he still refused saying every single table although unoccupied was spoken for. We enjoyed a diverse menu full of unique options from dinner to dessert. Service was great. Prices were reasonable considering it's atmosphere and view of the Nile. 2 hours later I only saw 2 of the 4 tables get occupied. It was evident the matradee lied about those reservations electing to keep those high demand tables open for more parties to come. I was teetering on providing a 4 star review because of that but the atmosphere and food were flawless. Can't take off a full star considering everything else...
Read moreThe worst dinning experience ever, we went there supposedly the restaurant is called Baalback that serves Lebanese food, to find out that only 5 dishes from the Lebanese menu is served. So as advised we chose 3 dishes from the Aspero menu, the all in combo appetizer dish was fine, we ordered avocado shrimp salad that came with onions and pepper garnish although these ingredients are not mentioned on the menu and after complaining they served us the dish with burnt shrimps and no avocados at all not a single piece. our main dish was the cordon bleu which was also fine with non cooked saute vegetables that had an awful taste. finally the dessert was lotus cheese cake which was fine but definitely not fresh at all. Not recommended...
