Actually, I’m very excited tonight because I didn’t know what to talk about at first, but then someone inspired me to choose my topic. He always inspires people all over the world — and I’ll tell you who he is at the end of my presentation.
Today, I’m going to talk about people who died for a message — people who spent their whole lives standing fodutyr what they believed in. Since I study history at university, I feel it’s my duty to remind everyone about these people. We should never forget them or the messages they carried. Even in the Quran, we read many stories about people who gave their lives for truth and guidance. Their stories remind us of courage, faith, and sacrifice. So, in my presentation today, I want to honor those who died for their message — because their courage still shapes our lives today.
Do you believe that some people give their entire lives just to leave a message — to protect others, to teach them, or because they feel it’s their duty? Actually, there are many people in our world, both in the past and today, who have done exactly that. Maybe we live the way we do now because of what they sacrificed before us.
So, my role today is to talk about them — to learn from their lives and to remember them. It’s very important for us to keep their memory alive, to pray for them, and to teach others about what they stood for. They may have died, but their message and their spirit still live with us. Omar Al-Mukhtar – The Lion of the Desert
Omar Al-Mukhtar was born in 1862 in a small village in Libya. He was a teacher of the Quran, a kind and religious man who loved helping people and teaching children.
When Italy invaded Libya in 1911, he couldn’t stay silent. He felt it was his duty and his message to protect his country and his people. Even though he was more than 50 years old, he became the leader of the Libyan fighters.
Omar was very brave and smart. He led small groups of men in the desert against the big Italian army. The Italians had planes and tanks, but Omar and his men had faith, courage, and strong hearts.
For more than 20 years, he fought to keep his country free. The Italians tried to give him money or safety if he stopped fighting, but he refused. He said:
“We will not surrender. We win or we die.”
In 1931, the Italians caught him after his horse was hurt in a battle. They decided to kill him to make people afraid. But Omar was not afraid at all. He stood strong and calm, and before he died, he said:
“Praise be to God.”
He was hanged on September 16, 1931, when he was 73 years old. The people cried, but his spirit stayed alive.
Today, Omar Al-Mukhtar is known as “The Lion of the Desert.” He didn’t fight for fame or money; he fought for freedom, justice, and his message. His story teaches us that real heroes never give up — even when they know they might die. Sheikh Muhammad Metwally Al-Shaarawy was one of the greatest Islamic scholars in Egypt and the modern Muslim world. He was born in Dakahlia in 1911, and he became famous for his unique and heartfelt way of explaining the Holy Qur’an.
What made Sheikh Al-Shaarawy special was that he didn’t use complicated or difficult words. He spoke in a way that everyone could understand — the old and the young, the educated and the simple people.
He always tried to bring people closer to God, not by fear, but by love. He taught that true faith appears in good manners, in patience, and in how we treat others.
Even though he lived through many challenges and changes, he never gave up his mission — to make people love Allah more.
Sheikh Al-Shaarawy passed away in 1998, but his words are still alive. We still listen to his talks and learn from them every day. His message was simple and powerful: Understand your religion with your mind, and live it with your heart. That’s why millions of people still see him as a symbol of light...
