Visited Ku-Kuu Fish restaurant in Sep 2025. Did not stay at the hotel/guesthouse

The restaurant is a fantastic place to have a “dinner with a view”. Located just beside the Kuressaare Castle, the restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, with the outdoor seating offering lovely views of the castle and its moat. I had made a reservation, but the restaurant was very empty when I arrived. Therefore, I would assume it’s fine to do a walk-in during the month of Sep.

Decided to try as much local fish for my dinner and hence ordered the whitefish starter and the “catch of the day” main course. There were quite a few options for the “catch of the day”, and I chose the Flounder as that’s the in-season fish for Sep. The dish actually comprised 3 flounders served with some potatoes & veggies. Absolutely loved the Flounder fish main course, and I’d strongly recommend it.

I did not have any drinks but there is a long drinks menu too for those interested.

Service was absolutely fantastic and the restaurant staff constantly checked on me if everything was alright. They also gave me complementary bread at the start of the meal.

Overall, I really enjoyed my meal and the view. Would strongly recommend visiting this restaurant for dinner if you’re...

Ku-Kuu Fish Restaurant on Saaremaa offers truly fantastic food and a beautiful setting. Unfortunately, the overall experience was affected by somewhat unprofessional and slow service. When I asked the blonde waitress which fish she would recommend for my son, who doesn’t like strong fishy flavors, she raised her eyebrows and replied, “So you want fish, but without fish taste?” – which came across to me as unnecessarily sarcastic. A professional server would respond differently.

Although several other waiters were standing around the terrace, none of them showed any interest in our table. Everything was left to that one waitress, who was not very attentive and came by only occasionally. Overall, the staff felt indifferent and disengaged.

I also didn’t like that at a neighboring table, a seagull picked at leftover food, and yet no one came to clean the table before new guests arrived. It’s a shame, because the excellent food and surroundings truly deserved...

Wow... The rudeness we faced by an employee was out of this world. First time in my life that I've left the restaurant because the attitude of someone working there. I feel insulted.

We've eaten here everytime we have visited Saaremaa, and food has been good so credit where credit is due I suppose.. Maybe a tad on the expensive side tho. But now, seriously can not and WILL NOT recommend this place anymore.

Sad to say this, but a single bad interaction with an employee (not to be named or shamed) has for ever driven me, my friends and my family away.

Customer service and experience is the single most important part of a restaurant business, and no matter how bad your day is going or what's going in your life, if you work in a service industry you can NOT under any circumstances vent it to the customers.

Edit: added a photo of the...
