Chakra — Restaurant in Tallinn

As soon as I opened the restaurant door I had to stop. It was only for a few seconds but I had to "be" with the fragrance of spices that greeted me!! It was pure sensory delight, and for a moment I'm sure the staff thought I was a jester or in a trance or something. I knew then that it would likely be delicious food and moments later 3 of their welcoming and energetic staff greeted me. The rest of my time there now recalls as a meditative experience in my mind.

**For reference; I have been to India & Nepal several times and I'm grateful to share close lifelong friendships with families who descend from Eastern cultures with traditional values passed on . In short, I've eaten many traditional and home cooked Indian Veg meals in my time, both in home countries, Australia and Overseas. I hold these delights at the top of my culinary lists.. **

Alas, this is, & could be a very long story of how Great this place was, and how Awesome the staff engaged with Customers, or how friendly everyone treated Me and that I Loved the fact we shared many engaging conversations and stories of Indian and Nepalese experiences!!

But, it's about the food and this place was a pure 11 out of 10,, a 6* meal with only 5* rating on the card.

Absolutely and without a Doubt one of the Top few Meals I've ever eaten. The vegetables Sooo crunchy, Fresh and tasty. Spices were Empowering & thoughtfully Utilised, A pure delight overcame my Palette an left me speechless. Vocal only with Grunts of ooooom or whooooooaammm,, then Smiles with aaaahhhhhm attached to incoherent Moans of mmmmmmmmhhhaa etc . You get the idea 😍😍,,,

Oh yeah, and not Forgetting the way my Head was Subconsciously moving sideways in Pure disbelief,, ...In that a relatively Modest seeming Establishment, Located in a far East European country, Down an Unassuming paved side road, could produce such a Tremendous feeling on what was my 47th Birthday. My head never move like that before in my life 🤩🤩

I had No problem tipping & Thanking the friendly Staff, (I'm sure I even Swore words of Delight to one Waiter Explaining how their food and this whole Experience was unreal, it was that #$&!@ good). I could not fault anything!

Thus, I was Adequately fulfilled, totally Mesmerised, and Wholeheartedly Impressed with their Authentic Indian Cuisine.

So, after travelling for a week and working before my travel this was our(my friend and I) first proper meal in almost 5 days. We decided to go with Indian food as it was one of the few places with gluten free options that we could be sure of and it was also our first few hours in Tallinn and we had no idea of where we could find a reasonably priced gluten free restaurant in old town because we didn’t know the city or the language. This was also after a very long journey where I was unable to eat for almost 16 hours due to specific health restrictions so at this point in the restaurant I was famished and had a tough time making a choice of what to order as it all looked very good. In all fairness we ordered a lot of food and the 2 mains and 1 starter were really good along with the drinks and rice(me) and bread(for friend). The only complaint about the food would be that the fritters were not warm. The waiters seemed to be quite friendly and patient and looked into our every need. The service was on time we didn’t have to wait for a long time for anything ( despite our big order). The big problem now was that we were in a hurry to leave so I went to the cashier to pay and right in front of me the waiters started name calling and making jokes about me(I heard twice) and my friend probably in their own dialect which I was able to understand as I had lived in India before . I felt personally , to hear that was a letdown after having enjoyed the vibe so much. I understand the fact that you sometimes make jokes about the customers and that’s just workplace comedy but the fact they did it right to my face while I was paying was really humiliating and disrespectful especially because they probably thought I wouldn’t understand them. Just because of that I got really mad and was discouraged from giving a tip too as I previously mentioned we both really enjoyed the vibe and were satisfied with everything but small nuances like this one and others really ruined it for us in the big picture and that why the 2...

For those who are lazy to select from the menu, order this for two persons: 1 ONION KULCHA (you get 4 pieces) 1 ALOO PARATHA (you get 4 pieces) 1 BHINDI MASALA (you get rice with it)

Order a teapot if you plan to have at least two cups of tea. A teapot has around 4 cups of tea and is the price of two cups of tea.

We visited this place four times in three days. The ambience is great, service is exceptional, and the food is good. The food is not amazing or mindblowing, but is pretty decent and I think this is the best Indian restaurant in the town at the moment.

All the waiters are exceptionally good at what they do. I haven't seen this good service at a restaurant in quite some time. I left a 10% tip with my card payment almost every time. I hope that the good waiters receive it.

The ambience inside is very comfortable and you can sit here for a long time enjoying your meal. But note that this is a very popular place and it is better to book a table in advance.

The outdoor seating is pretty nice but it can get cold due to the wind. There are some chubby sparrows waiting outside for fallen breadcrumbs. You can play with them as well if you need some entertainment 🐤

The only thing I didn't like about this restaurant is the grumpy and unfriendly owner 😠 On our last visit, we saw a person at the reception who was not friendly. We were surprised how this restaurant with such nice staff had this unfriendly person at the reception. We later got to know that he is the owner 😂

My suggestion to the owner is to either be friendly to the customers or to at least not linger around at...
