I stayed in this hotel in December but only now realized they had answered to my review in booking.com. It seems you can't answer to a property reply in booking (at least I can't find the place to do it), so I thought it would only be fair if I write a review on google to help other nice people out :)
I gave the hotel a very reasonable 5 star rating (out of 10) and a review. But the answer was rude and disrespectful.
The room wasn't too good, to be honest. They didn't have a proper one person bed but a very flimsy one that can't even be considered a bed by my standards. And the bed was next to a door that connected to another room and it was 0% soundproof. The breakfast was very bad quality as well. The room wasn't properly cleaned etc. Many things that deserved a 5/10 star rating in my honest opinion (and I was being kind).
I politely pointed those things out.
And I got a very rude reply from the ''General Manager''.
They were just saying random things, giving weak excuses and not understanding my basic English. Kind of talking of a fence when I'm talking of a fence hole.
One thing that they said was that I should have called when the person behind the connecting door was being loud. THEY WEREN'T BEING LOUD, THEY WEREN'T EVEN TALKING, THEY WERE EATING CANDY!!! I could hear them opening candy wrappers early morning and late night. Please understand that the problem is not the person in the next room but your door!
But what made me laugh and let me quote the General Manager: ''I do not know what to you have for breakfast in your home country but among hotels in Estonia the breakfast what we serve is definitely above the average and for sure not bad.''
ESTONIA IS MY HOME COUNTRY!
I have a basic Estonian name, this is hilarious!!! I think there's even an Estonian flag next to my name...
I have been to 20-30 hotels in Estonia as I am an Estonian, I have family in Estonia, but I live abroad. I visit Estonia about 2-3 times a year.
Here comes a kind recommendation to the General Manager: I use booking a lot and I always read the reviews. Even when the reviews are unreasonable and silly (in my case I was quite reasonable, I think you were just not understanding what I was saying) - I expect the hotel's answer to be humble, polite, kind. You are a professional. You should not stoop to the level of every traveller who writes a bad review (and my review was not even that bad, I gave 5 stars?!). I never stay in hotels where the hotel ''management'' comes off as rude or condescending. Just some food...
Read moreI don't usually give low star reviews, but this has to happen. I booked a "deluxe attic room with a view free breakfast and free parking" on booking.com. When we arrived to check in (that was fine, staff were very helpful) I asked were to park to car for free parking...it was 600M to walk, and 1.5KM in driving as you had to go through a series of one way streets, and would of cost €4 if it wasn't free. Ok not a great start, at least I can enjoy the deluxe attic room that has a view when I finish the walk back....wrong. As soon as we entered the room (which can only be accessed by stairs) my partner and I were very disappointed. It was nothing like the pictures online and despite being the best room type available was not worthy of the term deluxe. Now onto the view (see picture), our room had a tiny window that opened straight into an adjacent wall...that was it a view of a wall 50cm away from the window, oh and a cable tray. We were deeply disappointed and actually felt like we had been ripped off to some degree. My wife ate the free breakfast the next morning and it was very basic, I came down after my shower and the smell alone was enough to put me off eating. I walked to go and get the car and we promptly checked out and left, vowing never to return. I should point out the staff were helpful and this is what the 1 star is for. Minus 1 star for free parking, minus 1 star for the tired stuffy room, minus 1 star for the "view", minus 1 star for the free breakfast. I would not recommend staying here. Spend an extra €20 a night and you can have much much better accomodation...
Read moreThis is a typical 3.5 star European hotel. It is in an excellent location in the middle of the Tallinn Old Town, has comfortable but typically-smallish double rooms, wonderful breakfasts, and warm ac. I would recommend it to couples. However, we would not stay here again. Even though we booked and were fully paid more than 2 months before the hotel stay, we were told on our arrival that our room had been, "double booked". We were dispatched to a room with smaller than single beds positioned end to end in a room that resembled a school camp facility. When I suggested that this was unsatisfactory, the front desk person stated in front of other guests, "That's too bad". After walking the old town and returning, the manager had placed us in a better room for one night and we then had our pre-booked room for the next three nights. Additionally, the lift does not extend to the 4th floor so it was a struggle carrying large suitcases up stairs and across other uneven floors. Finally at check out, the receptionist insisted that our original payment was rejected by "their system" so I had to pay again. She withdrew the allegation after I showed her a stamped receipt. She then retorted, "must have been a system error". In my opinion, two different staff members could benefit from some serious service-industry professional development. However, other staff were very friendly and helpful; it was a very central location; and the breakfasts...
