I stayed here in June. I had read the reviews before hand but had hoped they were exaggerated. I am a very positive person and I don't usually find fault unless it is very extreme. Unfortunately in this case some of the points others have highlighted are definitely correct. We checked in and that was fine, no issues. The staff member (male) was friendly and very helpful. The lobby is very nice and bright and airy. There is a lift which is very helpful especially with suitcases. The room 417 was basic but it was very clean. It could do with updating but the main thing is it was clean. It had a tv and a fridge. The fridge was great for keeping drinks and snacks cold. TIP don't forget to leave a key card (or any card u have in ur wallet even a store loyalty card) in the slot at all times because the fridge turns off if there is no card in the slot so the electricity goes off. I see a few posts about the fridge not working but I'd say that is the main reason, we initially thought the fridge wasn't working but then thought of the electricity being off. The bathroom is basic again but it was clean. The shower was a good size and it was powerful. The shower gel provided wasn't great but I had brought my own. The bed really needs updating, the mattress is more just a topper it isn't a full size mattress. It is very thin and worn out. The main issue is the noise at night time. Our room faced directly onto the balcony of the bar across the way. I was uncomfortable in the room as I worried that the people could see in to the room. There is net curtains and heavy curtains to close at night. We did actually go to the bar while visiting and checked to see if you could see in. Once the nets are closed you can't see in, but if the lights are on you could see in so close the heavy curtains if the lights are on at night. You can hear the people when the windows are open and you can here the music in the evening times. Those noises didnt bother us too much as I can usually sleep through anything but if u are a light sleeper this will definitely keep you awake. Now we stayed for a week but it wasn't till the Friday night that we heard the night club noise. This started at midnight on the Friday night, I don't know if this was from the same building as the pub or somewhere else but the noise was absolutely insane. Even with the windows closed you could here it pounding and vibrating in the room. It continued till 4.45am. We had room 417 and a family member had 414 and they didnt sleep either. I am sorry I didnt ask when booking for a room away from the noise. If I had been away from the noise the hotel itself would have been OK. Definitely ask for a room away from noise even if you usually can sleep through noise especially if u are staying over the weekend. The beds and the noise were my only issues but I felt I had to highlight them. All the staff I dealt with were very nice. The girls in the breakfast room were great and continually cleaned the tables and always stocking up the hot and cold foods. The breakfast was excellent every morning. Lots of choice and always hot and fresh. Unfortunately during busy times there can be queues because it is a small area where all the food is. It is a buffet and self service. There was hot food, cereal, pastries, salad, breads and coffee machines and orange and apple juice machine aswell. The breakfast room was clean and tidy. We had good choice every morning and I must say the long custard type pastries that were besides the croissants were really really nice. The location of the hotel is the main selling point, it is right in the center and just beside the Viru Gate. I would stay again but only if I was guaranteed a room away from the noise and if there was new mattresses. While we stayed we didnt ask for our room to be cleaned as we didnt need it but I did get fresh towels and toilet paper as needed from the girls cleaning the rooms on our floor. New mattresses would make a big difference and bar the noise issue it is a really nice hotel. I understand it is difficult for the hotel as the music is from other establishments and not connected to the hotel. Due to the excellent location there will be noise and as i said I could have gotten over the general noise and music from directly across from the rooms but the night club noise later is way too much. I feel you should highlight this more on the website and tell people to ask for a room away from it although when the hotel is full i understand that isn't possible for everyone. I did ask the receptionist for ear plugs which she gave me. Maybe leave this in the rooms that are most affected. Overall we did like the hotel as it was great value and the food and...
Read moreWe came to Tallinn for a long weekend, and we were quite disappointed with the hotel. I don’t know the standards in Estonia, but to me this is definitely not a 4-star hotel. The first thing was already when we arrived and went to our room, which wasn’t done – there were still piles of dirty bedsheets and towels. And apparently this wasn’t the first time this happened as I figured out from the chat of the receptionists. Of course, we were given a different room, which was a good thing in the end, as the original one had no view and there was a terrible smell. So the new room was OK, it was clean, the temperature was fine, but we didn’t appreciate the carpet in the room. Also, providing 1 small bottle of shampoo and 1 of shower gel was a joke. We were two people staying there 3 nights and it was enough for one time. Of course, you can always ask for more at the reception if necessary, but it would be much wiser to just put there big bottles like at other places – it would also be much more eco-friendly. And you can hear everything in those rooms. The first night, there was a party in some other room, so of course, we couldn’t sleep. But even afterwards, you just hear everything that’s happening in the corridor and with people coming back in the middle of the night, it’s not great. So if you are a light sleeper, bring your earplugs with you. The breakfast was OK, nothing extraordinary, but you had the basics of everything, and it’s a nice, modern and clean area. And the coffee (cappuccino) and mini-croissants were really good. So overall, I am giving it 3 stars – although the location is amazing and it's easy to get there, after discovering Tallinn, we know now that everything is so close and there is plenty of other hotels. So we wouldn’t stay in this...
Read morePrice- Overpriced for what they offer. The location is good but it has no view. |Luckily I only paid 40€ for one night, but I still felt it was too much for this place. Plus I visited in april and the season hasn't started yet and bought the room in advance. I had a standard room, with a view to a brick wall. Plus the room did not look anything as they advertise. A day later and the same room was already going for almost 60€. ||Room- The room itself is already depleated, it's old and just looks cheap. The walls were dirty and so was the curtain. I was not offered a room change when I went to speak with the lady at the front. It did look like dried blood on the curtains. |The bathroom was ok, nice and clean but the tiles were quite cold. ||Sleep- This was the WORST sleep I have ever had in a place that calls itself a hotel. The bed was absolutely terrible, it had a boxspring underneath and then two super skinny toppers on top. Not even a proper mattrass. My back still hurts. |I've had a private room in a hostel which was alot nicer than this hotel room and the bed was more comfortable than this. ||Noise- Unfortunately it was noisy. I stayed here thursday night and it was so loud. I could hear music blasting and I heard a doorbell at 2am. I finally fell asleep around 5am but i didn't get any sleep due to people constantly banging their doors.||Would I stay here again? Not a chance I am reallt dissappointed in the quality they offer and I don't think they should name themselves...
