Short review - An amazing Indian place, highly recommended!
Long review-
Being an Indian I am skeptical whenever I am trying a new Indian place but this place will be a treat to your taste buds! Living in Helsinki where I am yet to find a place which cooks like this restaurant, I can definitely visit Tallinn just to have a lunch/dinner at Guru and my friends agree with me on this!
We were a group of 5, we ordered For starters - PANEER ACHARI TIKKA, LEHSOONI MACCHI TIKKA, CHILLI CHICKEN
Mains- RARAH GOSHT, KADAI MUSHROOM, PLAIN NAAN, GARLIC NAAN, CHEESE NAAN, BIRIYANI
Dessert- KASARIPHIRNI
My thoughts on the starters? The lehsooni macchi tikka is a must try! Chilly chicken wasn't spicy but it tasted great!
Mains? Rarah gosht was well prepared and meat was juicy and tender. The naans were okay. You could tell a lot about tandoor preparation by just having a plain naan and I would say Guru can definitely do better here. The naan was just OKAY compared to other foods. It wasn't as soft and fluffy as I expected it would be given that all the other foods were splendid. Biriyani was okay as well, its not bad but it is not great either and I wouldn't recommend it. Having said that one cannot expect to get great biriyani in 40 mins unless a pot is already made.
Dessert was good but it needs a bit more time to settle down and cool.
There was only one person at the restaurant for service but...
Read moreThis place served us chicken instead of panner. Both me and my husband are both vegans and vegetarians since birth. They gave us chicken instead of panner which was extremely shocking. We go to indian restuarents thinking they would know the importance of our diet. This place failed us miserably. The reason given by the waitress is that the chef was very busy? She mentioned that the chef is vegetarian too, which didn’t help the case at all. We should have gotten an apology from the chef and have the entire part reduced from the bill. Due to cross contamination we also had to give up 2 pieces of garlic and cheese naan too. They gave us a discount of 9 euros which is so less, compared to the fact that we had to waste so time, and food. We had to get 2 curries entirely replaced and lost an entire naan (which costed approximately around 4 euros). The waitress was apologetic but neither of them seem to understand the impact it costed on us. Never eating meat to us eating it due to the chefs carelessness.
I would suggest vegetarians and vegans to never visit this place, because if the chef gets busy, you might be served chicken, and the maximum they would refund you...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at this Indian restaurant that left a lasting impression on me. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and an inviting atmosphere. But what really stood out to me was the food. Every dish that was brought to my table was bursting with authentic Indian flavors that truly transported me to the streets of Mumbai.
What impressed me the most about the restaurant was the use of genuine ingredients in each dish. It was evident that the chef had a deep understanding of the spices and flavors used in Indian cuisine, as every dish was expertly crafted to perfection. From the fragrant biryanis to the rich curries, each bite was a flavor explosion that left me wanting more.
The restaurant's commitment to authenticity extended beyond the food. The décor, music, and overall ambiance created a true Indian dining experience that was unmatched. I left feeling satisfied, not just with my meal, but with the overall experience.
I highly recommend this Indian restaurant to anyone who is a fan of the cuisine or is looking to try something new. Trust me, you won't be...
